Stoops just gave us a Top 13 class. I don't know if we can do better than that. I hope I'm wrong, but that's historic for this program and most of those players aren't even on campus yet. They arrive in June/July.
You can't really recruit much better than he has done here.

Last yrs top 15 class was up there because we had the great luck of a homestate 5* left tackle who we had been recruiting for 5 yrs. Recruiting is geography, UK has the hard task of asking great talent to leave home because our state produces very few SEC level kids.

I just looked at the 22 state rankins on TOS and I was surprised. Kentucky was last in the SEC with the number of 4 and 5* kids with 2. I would have thought Arkansas but it had 4, the rest of the state had 6 to 49, I didn't check Texas. But that is a pretty big handicap that CMS has to deal with.

Kentucky is a small population state. And, a poor state, with badly funded HS sports coaches and facilities. Until recent years the 2nd biggest city in the state hardly produced any college prospects at all, not even 1-aa level kids.

The biggest city in ky that produces the most college prospects also holds another P5 school that 50% of the population are diehard lifelong fans of.

Years ago, in the 90's, Georgia Tech was a good program, won a share of NC in 90. But the coach left, O'Leary came in and was good, they won lots of games, Donnan losing 3 out of 4 to them cost him his job. We hired Richt, O'Leary left and they made some bad hires. Paul Johnson killed them with top kids in the state and everywhere else. QB's didn't learn to read pass protections, weren't getting looked at by the NFL, same with every other position, OL learned to cut block, not pass block. In spite of that they produced a couple of great WR. Calvin Johnson was before Paul but they were still on the decline. I can't remember the other one's name. If you haven't been through Atlanta GT is beside I-75 in the middle of downtown.

Now up to 16th in the annual CBS rankings of college coaches.

Well deserved!
How embarrassing this is for Kentucky fans who relentlessly trashed Stoops for his first five years in Lexington. Couple of posters in particular trashed any member of this website who defended Stoops. Now they pretend it never happened.

Stoops will soon be the winningest football coach in Kentucky history. He did it by building up our Oline and Dline and stressing that he wants our team to play physical. At this, he has been so successful that our Oline is now known as the Big Blue Wall. The better the Oline is, the better the Qback and Rback look. If our football program is to take the next step up, the lines are where it starts. Football games are won and lost in the trenches.

I don't want us to stay stagnant at all, or course I will always want more, but I am absolutely satisfied and content with where we are. Stoops and the boys keep doing what they have been these past several years, then I hope he's here until he retires at 70. This kind of consistency, good bowl games, 10 win seasons playmakers in the NFL, hard nosed defense....what more can you ask for? Of course I want to go to Atlanta and of course I want to make the playoff. I believe that we will do those things.

Thank god for Mark Stoops and Vince Marrow. Whoever would have thought we would win four straight bowl games over Penn State, VA Tech, NC State, and Iowa? Sometimes I just wish I lived closer to where these NY week bowls are played.

Usually get back to Lexington once every couple of years. I would like to attend the Georgia game next fall.
