With the new format using RPI, I wish the KHSAA would also move the semi finals to mid points between the two teams. Just looking, Lou HC could play Pikeville at EKU, Owensboro and Fred Doug could play at Trinity.
Anything to make it more of an EVENT.

Undefeated 2A breathitt county is statistically dominant in both offense and defense, yet ranked fourth in their division and must play away at somerset next week.
Is playoff seeding determined solely by rpi?

Because there are way too many classes in KY high school fb. They should have never went away from the four class system.
Several years back the KHSAA decided to give out more Participation Trophies in all its sports so more athletes could experience the thrill of being in the playoffs.

Belfry vs. Desales is an interesting matchup. Phillip Haywood from Belfry was my HS coach for a year in 1970 and I always wondered if he was still a maniac like before.

why so many blow outs in quarter finals. that's crazy

The new playoff format forced districts to play each other for the first two rounds rather than matching districts against each other. As a result, good teams in tough districts got knocked out in rounds 1 & 2 and teams from weaker districts advanced to round 3 where they got smashed by the better districts. The blowouts that happened in the quarters would've happened in round 2 under the old format.

It was all about travel. I guess in the end the best team still wins.

Bell County recieved the benifits of staying in 3A when corbin, central, and a few others got bumped.
I don't believe anyone in the class can compete with Bell. Oddly Enough Bell has a QB that can throw just good enough to be a legit threat which is mainly what they're always missing.
They absolutely crushed the number 2 offense in 3A last night. (number 1 is Bell).

Fredrick Douglas is the best team I has seen in person this year. Somerset is second.

Grew up in Harlan co. A trip to log mountain was always a huge challenge.

There is a reason Fredrick Douglas is the best team (The Fayette County all-star team) and the fact that they are 5A is a joke as well. To your point, they are very, very good.

My son plays for a team in their district. They were big and fast.

Breathitt is loaded with big play ability on offense in run and passing but hasn't been tested and played a really subpar schedule. I also think the winner of the Somerset vs Breathitt game will be your 2A champ. Breathitt has a RB that is averaging 18 yards a carry and a TD every 3 carries in Andrew Collins. This game should be a track meet.

Isn't this just their third year overall? Pretty impressive that they have gotten this good that quickly. They've only given up 67 points all season and 31 of those were in the Lexington Catholic game. Tates Creek in the 6A semis and Douglass crushed them 62-14.

Yes indeed, we pride ourselves on defense and smash mouth football. Much like the cats of recent times. I was a state champion in 4A at bell, and hope they can inch out another one this year.
The class overall is weak compared to in the past
We had a terrific game against Boyle County in the state semis that year I don't see anyone left on Boyle County level.
Although if Bell and Taylor County wins next week that'll be interesting seeing as dudley has won a championship at both schools.

When you recruit players to your magnet program and you don't disclose your enrollment numbers correctly and are 5A instead of 6A, it can lead to a damn good football team. Henry Clay was ranked in the top 10 pre-season and injuries have something to do with that, but getting your team ransacked to the point that you go winless........
