Start of 2nd Half Irks Me

We come into the 2nd half down 1. 46-45. It’s anybody’s ballgame at this point. We have to feel confident based on season record, we are home at Rupp, AND we know Pope’s ability to adjust in the 2nd half.

Instead, Arky runs the ally oop play. Next thing you know, we are down 7. It felt like our guys couldn’t get over the hump after that. I saw no 2nd half adjustment. All I saw was Big Z hitting 3’s, Theiro being a menace and wanting it more than anyone (Not named Amari) and DJ Wagner silencing the crowd.

This has been my favorite UK season in a while. I’m not off the bandwagon at all. Love Pope - but the lack of fight from certain players is discouraging.

Brea, Chandler, Perry, Garrison (that 3 that clanked off the backboard killed momentum) and to a lesser extent Oweh didn’t bring it tonight like we need them to. Carr & Butler are hurt. This team needs to start frowning now! It’s Feb. march comes next

I need to see more fight from this team. Like I did in the Duke & Gonzaga games early on.

Chandler and Garrison making the plays is a recipe for disaster.

Brea has disappeared it seems. Carr is just not able. Williams kept this from being a 20 point loss.

After those first 2 mins of the first half it was basically a 6-10pt game the rest of the way. It really does feel like those first few possessions of the 2nd half for each team were the most important of the game

The lack of energy and fight are a little alarming, it’s been a consistent topic with this team which is alarming. This is Ky, to quote cal “we can’t hide you” if that’s going to be a problem. We need dogs and those ready to match energy & want to, but again pressure D and we fold. But we basically choked tonight that’s all.

DJ hit that 3 and went up 6 and I knew it was over.

Was a strange vibe coming out of half. Robinson sat on the bench didn’t take the first shot. Guys just walked around, no energy from anyone. It was just a really strange start that continued the entire second half. Strange lineups. Guys disappearing. Guys playing extended minutes that haven’t played much at all and guys not even getting in the game. Just an overall disappointment.
