Saw this in an article about the financial effects of shutting down college football, and the AD at S Car made the comment that baseball "about breaks even". I was not aware any college baseball teams made a profit or even came close to break even. Does anyone know how other ACC and SEC teams do financially in baseball?

I'd say the only ones that come close are USC, LSU, and Miss State.

Yeah....Mississippi State and LSU Im sure turn a profit with theirs.

UK could too if wed promote the program more. This state loves baseball.

Not sure that it is as possible with our situation. Not enough seats in KPP and the cold weather might prevent it from being as popular as it could be.

If they make the proposed changes to push the season back then that could certainly be a factor though... also if we'd ever be good again. Lol

Yeah, Ive always felt like the season needs to be pushed back some.

Not that I want to give other conferences any added help, but Florida, Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana....February isnt what it is in Kentucky. But then places like Ohio and Michigan would see a big benefit as well too.

As far as seating/promotion/etc....its totally a matter of effort on UKs part. We go to Little League games. High school games. Travel ball games. Legends games. Bats games. And of course Reds games.

The SEC has amazing baseball talent on every roster. Look across MLB. I dont believe for a second if the effort was invested to actually push and promote the team and weekend homestands with big matchups, consistently through local media over the long haul, that we couldnt build a big interest and consistent following and need more than 2K seats. Look at Coach Ming's first season, how rockin was the Cliff and how much excitment was there? Yes we have to win. Get the players here. Get the fan support at the level of some of these other schools like Ole Miss and Arkansas are.

Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia have always seemed to just conpletely half ass their baseball support and promo and all three schools have zero reason not to get all in on it. They all have the resources to have consistently good programs. Georgia especially. Their ineptitude is mind boggling.

Arkansas makes a profit. This is from 2019:

Arkansas baseball’s largest revenues last year were generated by ticket sales ($2.91 million), accounting for more than 43% of the program’s revenue. Ticket sales jumped nearly 23% from 2018 and are up 50% from $1.94 million in 2014. Royalties, licensing, advertising and sponsorships ($1.63 million) and contributions from fans and boosters ($1.27 million) were also top revenue sources for the baseball program last year.

Only about 10% of D1 baseball teams do though, most of them in the SEC lol.

Strongly agree with point 1 above, but without point 2, it is all irrelevant.
