No one has dropped more passes in the SEC than Kentucky's two primary receivers. What's up with their case of the sophomore drops?

Or possibly knowing that Coen was returning and Leary was supposed to be an excellent passer while at the same time having no one competing for their playing time , they thought it would be easy and didn’t put in the work .
The article said Brown has only dropped 4? I think I can count balls he's dropped from memory and get a higher number. Their view of 'catchable' must be a lot different than mine.
Target the best receiver on the team a little more...Tavion Robinson and throw more to the TEs, especially DingleKentucky receivers have a case of the sophomore drops

He had like 3 drops on Saturday didn’t he? Seems like Key did as well.
Bullshit . Any sensible person knows it has been an issue, including the coaches . We lead the nation in drops but I guess you think we shouldn’t talk about it, lol .
And the coddling they get from the staff. In addition to the egregious drops, neither want to block, they taunt and showboat when they do actually catch a pass, and brown asks out every time he gets a touch.
Yes they are talented. No they aren't living up to the abilities. Absolutely no are they worth coddling.
They both need to take a page out of ray Davis' book.
Here is my fix:
You drop a ball, head to the sideline. We will have 11 guys out there but you will not be one of them. If we throw and your replacement catches it, you continue to sit.
If he drops, you get another chance.

This. I’m over the nose wipe first down celebration after every catch when you dropped the 1 prior to that. Congrats you did your job as a receiver and moved the chains on a 5-15 yard reception.
All the preseason talk they were doing and hype they got has gone to their head imo and their focus isn’t 100% there. Now that they are getting some negative press for drops it’s likely adding pressure and they are in their heads and trying to “prove the haters wrong” instead of just focusing on the basics and getting back to focusing on what matters and getting better each day.
It is called regression, and it happens to lots of young players. They are not machines.
I definitely think key needs to not start next game. Brown is a bit different because he does play and produce on special teams and that ain't for the weak. That said no more forced touches down field (which we already went away from, thankfully). Plus no more checking out after a touch.
Treating those guys like everyone else is punishment enough for those two. Ray Davis is an amazing role model, if they will absorb his approach
Bobby Knight was right, but he also coached in an era where "transfer portal" could've been slang at a transit station.
Sit them and risk ticking them off to the point of transferring or play them and risk some ugly losses.
I do want to see more of Crowdus and A. Brown, though.

As a coach, you can not be hijacked by what ifs. Do what’s best for the TEAM and deal with the transfers if/when they come.
Neither of these guys performed nearly well enough to be coddled. If they transfer, we'll survive and replace them; while they will just be dropping passes somewhere else.
We have way better players on this team that play much harder and produce much more.
Stoops in his Monday talk says crowdus and brown will be more involved. Sounds like he's trying to make a point. So I'm glad to see some of the kid's gloves coming off for brown and key
And they are sec capable receivers so this is not to take anything away from them...they showed flashes of potential last year but in SEC world they are not 'world beaters', they were just finally capable athletes/receivers but compared to what we had seen in the last decade they just looked like they were elite to some. And I posted this a long while back for those with affection for Crowdus, largely because he's local, but i did not expect much to develop out of him. I had info a year and a half ago from the IMG side that he was not asked to come back his senior year. I don't want to turn it into a bigger deal than it was but I'll just say he has a history of not taking care of his business. Maybe he has changed or maybe this is just a stab to light a fire under the others. Hard to play sec ball if you don't dig and grind unless you're a freak type and that's not these guys.

Amen! If our current receivers can't catch a ball they've got to sit. It's not like we can sit Leary. Give the next guys up on the depth chart a try. And like others said involve the TE more.
Posted this in another thread, but this isn't a sophomore slump. They dropped a disproportionate amount of passes as freshmen too. It's a part of their game (to date) and not a sophomore slump.
It is lack of concentration. Barion is pressing. Barion loves running for yards after catch and is in the bad habit of taking his eye off the ball before he wraps up. Dane has improved his blocking. But Dane's routes are not where they need to be and he has monkey fingers. Maybe Dane is not focused on football like he needs to be. They can play so much better than they have.

Barion focused on the Georgia game last year, and will again. I do not know what is going on with Dane, but he cannot keep playing this way if he wants to start. Stoops is talking about needing more from Crowdus and Brown Stephens. Dane better understand what that means. We may be thin, but the bench is not empty. How long until Cummings gets snaps at wideout?
Need to give TR and Cummings more targets. TR has proven he's the most reliable at this time.
It's the old adage of buying for what you are worth and selling for what they think they are worth, never did work that way.
