I played college fb! I just wanna give my opinion about something. When I came in, my position coach was a genius, but he had no personality and was really hard to get to know! I understand the business side of football, but I also understand the importance in building trusting relationships with coaches, mentors etc.....
Going into my sophomore yr, this coach takes a gig at another school! A Ga was promoted to my position coach! He wasn't nearly as knowledgeable as his predecessor , yet he truly earned the trust of his players and it showed on the field! Players didn't automatically get better bc of a coaching change, players played their hearts out bc we knew this coach would run thru a wall for us.
All this talk about hopefully new OC will teach these kids how to catch the fb is ridiculous! These kids will catch the ball and do the right things if coach Stoops makes the right hire and new guy can push the right buttons! All about jimmy and joes is true, but coaches are jimmy and joes too!
