Somebody explain to me why South Carolina just dribbled the ball

No kidding. Chubby kid passed up an open 3 with 7 seconds and passed it off. Silly.

They were a mess on offense all night. When you're down three points you can't wait until one second left to shoot the ball. The guy should've shot it when he was open.

You're lucky in a game like this to have the opportunity to get a shot up when down 3 and less than 10 seconds to go. To run it down to 3.5? smh

Trying to get a 3 off & did a poor job. Had a kid or 2 that didn't want the ball at winning time it looked like. And Thornwell must have been drained cause he stood around a lot in last 8-10 minutes.

Yep, I was screaming for him to take the wide open 3 but I guess he was either too scared to take it or was determined to go with what Martin told them during the timeout. Should have taken it and they still had time for a chance at a rebound with time remaining. Not going to get more open than he was in that situation.

Nothing more than the manifestation of a low basketball IQ. 12 seconds left down by 3, unless you don't understand basketball, you take the first available 3 point shot so there's still time for a rebound or a foul.

Unfortunately, these kids watch their heroes, most notably Lebron, make the same dumbass decision.

I've noticed that a LOT of teams have trouble getting shots off in similar situations. Whether it's tied, or they're down, they just pass it around until someone has to throw up a prayer, or they don't get a shot off at all. Happens all the time.

Saw Martin in the huddle say to Thornwell " I want you to take it". They just took their sweet time getting it to him.

Few was smart to have them foul, it's a no brainer.

Don't know why so many coaches don't.

Set a play with one pass to your best player soon as you cross half court.. At least get a shot up with plenty of time to get a rebound..

I'd bet that he did. The team just froze during that possession..nobody wanted to take the shot.

I think they were too fixated on running the play that Frank drew up . Notice gave up an open shot too
THIS.....exactly. They listen to their coach all year because of his demeanor, and in that situation they were sticking to what he said. The play broke down and its on the PLAYER to take the open shot when they give it to you. Kid was wide open with 7 seconds left, and they dared him to shoot, he was wide open for 3 seconds, and just passes it to a player who was covered.

I like Frank Martin, but he called about 3 timeouts down the stretch. You'd think at some point he might have said...."We're down 3 so if you get space outside the arc, take the shot, because they will try to send us to the line down 3" Either he didn't do that or that kids nuts shriveled up with the game on the line.

Maybe just not ready for the bright lights. Overall they played dang well and have nothing to be ashamed of.
