Ole Miss did what any team will have to do to beat UK.

- They shot out of their minds, making shots all night from deep with hands in their faces. Couldn't miss.
- They got into early bonuses and made almost all their FTs for easy points
- They rebounded better than UK and kept UK off the offensive boards

And still lost.

Ole Miss gave UK the absolute best game they could throw at em... and still lost.

I like this team. I was at ease with the fact they may lose late. I wasn't pissed off like I usually get because deep down I believed they'd make the plays they needed to.

Let's just hope they learned a lesson from the 1st conference game and realize every team they see the rest of the way is gonna play their asses off and they HAVE to bring the intensity and not let up... even when they go up early by 12. No one in the SEC is gonna be afraid of em or lay down.

Well said and I'll add that it's a good thing that Moody pulled a Lebron and folded late cause I'd've hated to had the ball in his hands late the way he was chucking it. A chance to beat the #1, unanimous, undefeated team in the nation, possibly one of the best in NCAA history AT HOME ON ESPN and you punk out (and laugh and smile) in crunch time? NO HEART.

Perfectly put.

the key thing is : They still lost even playing a gameplan, and over their ability to do so in another game they will ever play in again, imo, to as near perfection as they could've hoped for.

It was eeriliy similar to the 09/10 game against USC jr. where Downey went nuts, and they had TWO guys that did it to us tonight.

AND WE STILL WON.

Bottom line for me : we shot 11-20 from 3 pt land. Noone's beating us when we hit 3's like that. This game just backs up that fact.

Very well could be the toughest in conference game we have all season long, too.

looking forward to the next game, resetting the focus and taking them one game at a time.

Go Big Blue !

you cant do anything about a cramp if you played sports. I dont think he "punked out" glad he was out though

Cats hitting plenty of 3s kept them in it... but the MVP of the game might be Moody's cramps.

Agree 100%, Jason! I was sitting 7 rows up and Ole Miss was just having one of those games were Everything seemed to go in. Every time we would get on a little run, they would answer. You just got to tip your hat to them.....BUT, like you said, they played the perfect game and still lost! Hats off to our boys for never folding!

I agree that there a lot of good things to be drawn from this W, the only thing Ole Miss didn't have going for them was being on the road(shots were falling, off night by bigs, game plan, etc.). Maybe that could have flipped the script, although I never ever feel like we are going to lose. Haven't for most of my life, as a matter of fact. I'm pretty sure the young guys have a better understanding of what kind of intensity they will be facing from here on out...especially on the road(because if it's like this AT HOME, how's on the road gonna be?). I think they will be ready for their next challenge.

Yeah, but UK hitting plenty of 3's is not a shock. Ole Miss hitting a lot of them and hitting so well from 2 as well was the shocker.

And I don't want to hear about cramps when we have a key player out for the season.

The premise seemed to be that an everything-goes-well-for-them / everything-goes-wrong-for-us kind of game (I call it the 2010 WVU scenario) is what it will take to beat the Cats. Hitting 11 out of 20 3-pointers negates that premise, and Moody going out (before he could likely sink 3 foul shots at that crucial moment) was a huge plus... and yet it was still a nail-biter.
I don't blame the kids for not seeing it coming... nobody saw it coming! I'm glad we won, but I definitely hope the lesson was learned... no one is going to hand Kentucky the trophy.

That's very true man. It will take a very good showing to beat this squad.

I do think there are 2 teams, MAYBE 3 That can actually beat us if we play good(not great).

Because the media and everyone are so hard on the "undefeated" thing, I think everyone falls short of understanding we are basically guaranteed a final four barring one of the biggest choke jobs in history. There isn't anyone in the first 4 rounds who should really beat this team.

Great team and great time to be a Cat

This cramps cannot be stopped with heart. Poster obviously has no experience in competitive athletics.

The narrative all year has been if we shoot the three well we won't be beat. Coming into this game let the entire fan base know ahead of time that we will go 11-20 from three and let them set the point spread for the game. Think anyone would have said three? This game does anything but back up the fact that no one is besting us when we hit three's like that. We had to hit three's like that to even pull a squeaker out in the end and very easily could have lost in either regulation or OT.

if this game backed any fact at all it was a testament to how hard it will be to go undefeated. Contrary to popular opinion on the board, we did not play a bad game. Wasn't our best but not our worst by a sizeable margin. Ole miss played that good tonight that made what at times an invincible looking team look beatable and on their home court at that.

People can talk shat all they want around cbball about us going to OT against Ole Miss. Go ahead. They shot out of their minds. They would have beaten a lot of top teams with that peformance. We shot well but didn't play great defense by not chasing guys off the 3pt line enough and funneling their guards into the paint. Contested shots? Yes. But when 3 guys get hot, you gotta take away that 3. I hope everyone around college basketball gets great hope from this.

Because to beat us ,you better pray you shoot out of your mind like Ole Miss did. Hats off to them. NEXT!

I remember Tony Delk getting cramps against UMass in the Final Four game in 1996. Nobody ever suggested he didn't have the heart to stick it out in that game.

I've had them myself. Nothing you can do about it, and suggesting you just ignore them and play is asinine.
Yep. Delk had them in the FF. My favorite example is when we were destroying UNC in Dec. 2009, up by about 20 points, everything going our way with humiliation on the horizon for the Tarholes... then John Wall started cramping. IIRC, he went to the sidelines and the lead had dwindled to 2 before he was able to get back in and help salvage the victory. You knew Wall wanted to get back on the court... but, with cramps, you just can't do it... until you can do it.

Give Moody credit, he kept trying... but it just wants to come back on you. That's why he was stiff-legging it to the bench. Probably was past the most painful part, but it still hadn't quite let go of him.
