Some positive thoughts about last night's game

That was the type of game we usually lose. We found a way to win!

Lots of "teaching moments" for the staff in a game we won--especially with the freshmen and redshirt freshmen.

Wide receivers and running backs are the real deal--receivers were open all night long, blocked well and no drops; running backs made the best of the few well-blocked running plays and did a nice job with their pass blocking responsibilities.

O-line pass blocking seems improved. (Except for first and last play of the game not so much for blocking in the run game.)

Perhaps I missed something, but can't find any positives on the defensive side of the ball--still weak in fundamentals.

People also need to realize that ULL is a pretty darn good and well coached team. They were 9-4 last year and returned some good players. They are a bowl caliber team. We knew this wouldn't be cupcake city. It was the first game. It was stressful, but generally teams see their biggest improvements from week one to week 2. I don't like that SC gets a couple of extra days of rest, but I think we will see some different wrinkles next week.
