Didnt we bench a center and let a Freshman Drake Jackson start? With no injury, no we do not. That’s not how Stoops coaches…regrettably.

I don't believe for one minute that CMS will continue to risk the health of his only QB and thus risk his season because one guy continues to struggle on the O Line.No Doubt the coaches (Coen and Stoops) need to take a serious look at all options at center. We do not see every day situations at practice so too hard to say what should be done. Game 3 even against the lowest of low schools should not have the snap issues we saw Saturday. We are about to see what we actually have starting Saturday. Vandy (might be easy or hard, too hard to tell) but even if we get past Vandy we will have UF after that. We will start seeing a much larger and quicker guys coming after Leary. Talk about possibly being confused by stunts. It is coming quick.
El li cox played center all last year and don’t remember 3 or more snaps a game at feet, over head etc of QbDo we have a better option?
And no, anybody wouldn't be better.
Just like when fans wanted Gatewood or Allen to replace Wilson at qb.
Add on to that the fact that Stoops outright said that they would be looking at options at center, and I think it's pretty clear that they're looking for improvement or change. Barring one, the other will become mandatory.I don't believe for one minute that CMS will continue to risk the health of his only QB and thus risk his season because one guy continues to struggle on the O Line.
I hope so Liam. If the O Line doesn't improve I think it's time to make the move that @cathouse alluded to, above. Yenser is looking like a bad hire.have faith in the staff
We can and will get this figured out
IDK what other options UK has. Cox wasn't good last yr.
Yes take for example the fearbry kid he was all over the place when in. Great PBU and a hard thumper hit or two. Gotta figure out a way to get the kid on the field.I don't believe for one minute that CMS will continue to risk the health of his only QB and thus risk his season because one guy continues to struggle on the O Line.
I also believe we will see other changes to the depth chart, if not for Vandy game, for sure for the UF game.
We are playing some lesser talented players ahead of some better players right now.
Hoping that is just for the sure win games. Those are over. Time to play the best players and roll with them.
What do you mean by regrettably? Are you a smarter coach than Stoops? With no injury, no we do not. That’s not how Stoops coaches…regrettably.
On those critical 4th downs.....even a low snap will blow up the flow of a bang/bang play....so when those plays happen...you can lose a game on a critical series. We dont change unless we have a better option. From what I hear we dont. If he doesnt improve ( and he might do so) it will cost is a ball game down the road.
Those bad snaps are throwing the timing off on all our pass plays, and even run plays. It is not just a 4th down issue. On those critical 4th downs.....even a low snap will blow up the flow of a bang/bang play....so when those plays happen...you can lose a game on a critical series.
We are probably going to find out who runs the offense over this OLine problem....
There is no need to fire the snap back there. If I'm QB I want a softer toss just easier to gather in rather than focusing on the catch first. Doest really save any time and all risk no reward IMO, rarely see a soft toss mishandled or over the head. Coaches should correct that.I believe they will take a long, hard look at the C position this week. They're not going to torpedo a promising season by sticking too long with a problem. It's not just the over-the-head snaps that are the problem, imo. First, he snaps it back about 90 mph unlike others who've played the position. Second, it doesn't appear to have much spiral on the snap (maybe just every once in a while it's a knuckleball, which is what I've noticed). Third, many times, the ball is low or high or somewhere where Leary has to make a quick move to corral it - has to upset the timing if Leary is having to act like a soccer goalie on every snap. Fourth, his blocking has been inconsistent - one play he'll truck his man, the next he looks like he's lost and/or getting pushed around.
Keenum, Bowles (and maybe others) should get plenty of opportunity to see what they can do. Burton may be one of best 5 and should be starting, but, at least so far, he's not showing it on the field at center.
Pretty sure Bunchy started at C after Toth left and he had the same issues we’re seeing with Burton. Like Cox last year he was just out of position and was 1st team AA after he moved back to guard. Missing Big John Schlarman and the days of the Big Blue Wall, dude could develop linemen like no one else I’ve seen here; losing him was the biggest blow we’ve had to this program in a long, long time.Didnt we bench a center and let a Freshman Drake Jackson start?
