As I mentioned in a different thread, I hope that they are used on 2 low rated, hard working kids that will be more than content to not see meaningful minutes until their JR year after having practiced against NBA talent every day for a couple years.
As a JR/SR, I'd hope for Willis/Hawkins contribution from both, but would be more than happy to see 1 of the 2 turn into that kind of player while seeing the other transfer out.
Hawkins and Willis's leadership last year was invaluable. I think Cal should always have a JR/SR on the team, even if his talent level doesn't meet the others, for experience.
We have Tai this year and probably next year too. Now would be the time to recruit his successor who would be a JR the year after Tai leaves to help show all the FR what is expected and how things work.
I DEFINITELY do not think the player(s) need to be from Kentucky, that would be nice but completely unnecessary, just a couple lower rated 3* players that play hard, impress Cal in whatever way, and are not worried about seeing PT anytime soon. Find 2 such players for the last scholarships and hope at least 1 player sticks around.
If we end up with a Gerald Fitch and Ramon Harris type players, mission accomplished, IMO.
All in my completely worthless opinion as always.
