I guess by now, we've all heard the talk about Ulis' drastic improvement since the Final Four. I'd love to see for myself, but I guess that will have to wait.
Based on this tweet though, I guess Briscoe is seeing first-hand just how much Ulis has improved.

Briscoe is a scoring guard. He thrives in iso situations because of his size, strength, length, and ball handling ability. Has a solid jumper too, but did Ulis really improve to the point where he could pretty much out-class the top point guard coming out of high school in this past class?

Discuss. Who else is really excited to see the improvement of Ulis, and really, see how good our guards are altogether?

I read this title and I thought we were going to head down a dark road for a few seconds haha. Tyler has improved dramatically from the small sample size I've seen. Seems to have honed the ability to get off one-on-one contested shots. If that holds up during the season look out.

I think Briscoe needs to tighten up a few things before the year begins. Having a guy like Ulis here is only going to accelerate his growth.

I assume this is summer pick up games.

So the important question is who is on Ulis' team and who is on Briscoe's?

If Ulis is picking the teams (which usually happens, the veterans cherry pick their teams) then this is no surprise. Ulis is probably playing with Labissiere, which gives him an edge.

Thanks for posting, fun to discuss on a boring July day.

Haha they seem to get along really well, so I think we're good in that department. I haven't gotten the chance to see him in person (though I know some people did). I think it's very good for both of them. Both play with a toughness, and are pretty hard-nosed defenders (though Ulis is the better between the two). I'd like to see Ulis ball now though.

I bet they're talking about Super Smash Bros.

Alright, well here ya go.

Drop down to the 6th post. He's been posting these for a bit. They're speaking 1 vs 1.

They really do get along well. I think they've bonded through that competitive spirit. Gonna love seeing both of them on the court channeling that competitiveness against another team.

Ulis is going to be a legend before his time is done here.

Bold, but I firmly believe he could, and will be an All-American next season. Curious to see what other accolades he could add onto that.

I agree and I definitely don't use the term legend loosely. I just see all the makings of a legend here. Partly because he's already a great player while being so young and also because I think he's here 3 or 4 years which is a rarity today.

One thing is for sure, both of these guys are cold blooded. Love having them in the same back-court.

Give me Ulis every time.

Better shooting touch + range, quicker + better defender. Isaiah will likely be better at getting in the paint & drawing fouls, buts thats the only areas i envision him being superior.

If Ulis comes into this upcoming season hunting his shot more + sniffing the paint, the guy will take off. He's already pretty complete as a player.

I love hearing how good Ulis is. What I like just as much though is the fact that Isaiah is going to realize really quick how hard he's going to have to work to keep up with college guards. Those two will both make each other better.

I'm excited to see Tyler put his stamp on this year's team. I understand that this team is possibly deeper at the "1" than any in the history of the game. But Tyler's game gets me amped! Behind the back half court passes anyone? He's gonna log a TON of minutes!

I have no idea how he will translate to the NBA. But at the collegiate level, its gonna be tough to find a better point guard. Hopefully for the next 3 seasons. (Fingers crossed)

I think he's definitely gonna have a huge role in the NBA someday. There are few NBA players that ever gain the ability to see the floor as well as he sees it now. His speed, passing ability, accuracy, and basketball IQ are all ridiculous. His only real "weakness", if you will, was his ability to finish through contact in the lane, and even then, he did a pretty good job. A lot of the reports suggest that he's become much more accurate inside the 3 point line, with some saying he looks Iverson'esque. Would not be even slightly surprised about those reports being true, he's a special talent.

I agree with your post. It would be great to see him get better at finishing through contact. It seems like Briscoe is sturdy and strong, he seems to finish well. Maybe Tyler can pilfer a bit of that from Briscoe. Tyler can definitely give Briscoe an idea of how fast his feet need to move defensively at this level.

Against Turkey they weren't breaking too many ankles. If perry wasn't on your team you would have lost big.

Well, that is because Graham is out with an injury and is not playing in the WUG. Mason was one of the best pg in the nation last year. And to your second point, we won playing against grown men and tougher competition than what Kentucky played in the Bahamas last year.

USA! USA! USA!

Don't get over confident, that Turkish team was so out of shape they grabbed your players when they didn't want to play defense. And do you watch much European ball? They won't be throwing up 30 or 40 3 pointers during their season games. They hardly worked the paint at all.

I must have seen a different version of the same game. They were going low quite often and the physicality that is allowed in that tournament is unreal.

Mason was one of the best PG's in the nation last year? [laughing]. No he wasn't.

It's a good problem to have, throw Murray in there, forget about it, man they should have games in the summer that are open to the public so we can get our fix before BBM[banana][cheers]:cool2:

Frank Mason and Devonte Graham are going to be breaking some Ulis and Briscoe ankles come January. [thumb2]:cool2:

Are you being serious?

Ulis, Briscoe and Murray are individually better basketball players than anyone on your roster. With the addition of Murray there is no debate that Kentucky has the best backcourt in the country.

This Kansas troll has the weirdest screen name I have ever seen. Kansas sucks in the tournament and I have been following college basketball for nineteen years now. It seems like most years they get upset early on including the big one when they lost to bucknell as a 3 in round one. The last two years they were upset by decent, not good, but decent teams in the round of 32.
Kansas has a slight edge in January because it's in the Phog and I hope the conference challenge gives us a return game for the next year especially seeing how Kansas has had two home games in a row now in the challenge. If UK plays them in the tournament UK blows them out.

Just imagine if ulis was even 5'11/6'0 how different of a player he'd be. I doubt he'd be as scrappy but it's a shame guys like davis can win the late blooming lottery and guys like ulis can't even get a ticket
