conference in the NCAA? I mean I'm expecting UNC to skate and UL was just the "whipping boy" and with their sanctions the banner coming down is more than justifiable. But Pitino with only 5 games, really? I can't believe that the NCAA bought the "idk" bit. Slap on the wrist. The NCAA seems to want to protect the ACC IMO

Not sure what you mean. Syracuse got hammered, and now UofL. Commissioner Sanky has had some very pointed words for UNC. It sure looks like the ACC is the current "bad boy" conference. Too many rogue employees.

I just think the UL banner coming down is the "authoritative" move by the NCAA, and when it comes to UNC they'll find minimal penalties. And just notice how the ACC teams getting "hammered" are both additions from the big east.

But did you think the NCAA had the stones to actually do it? Most people on here didn't. I wasn't sure if they would either, but I have always believed that it needed to come down. Ineligible players = vacated wins.

Same principle applies to UNC. The NCAA has to find that the fraud classes made the players ineligible. It's a pretty easy case to make. Ineligible players = vacated wins. And titles don't protect you any more.

Understand your argument but from what UNC is trying to debate is it was an institutional fault that was open to everyone *wink wink* and it's not a basketball specific issue. So basically they're saying they need to handle it from an academic standpoint and it shouldn't be an NCAA issue. I know it sounds like a BS argument, but it opens it up to discussion/ interpretation. 17 year old kids banging whores in minardi hall paints are far more detailed and grotesque picture to an NCAA board.

I don't think UNC will lose a NC, they're much more protected than UL.

If 5 games was all he got you are right but If the banner comes down that will hurt Pitino far worse than the suspension, I am sure he would take a season suspension in exchange for keeping that NC.
