It amazes me that the National sports media hasn't done the same with Roy Williams. It's only the biggest academic fraud case in the history of college athletics. I've already seen many sportswriters calling for Pitino's job and the story is only a week or so old. Williams and UNC has been stalling for over 2 years now while SMU has been hammered quickly and it looks like Louisville will as well, its not right!

On espn, while talking about scandals they say, "other coaches at premier programs are having to do with scandals. Rick pitino and louisville, Boheim at Syracuse, Larry brown at smu."

No mention of Roy and the most egregious academic/athletic scandal in history at unc. But the espn prez is an unc alum and it is what it is.

Ncaa just needs to gtfo. they don't do anything. P5 needs to beak away

Yes I heard(or didn't hear) that as well,it boggles the mind that Roy and UNC can go on their merry way while other coaches and schools held accountable quickly. How long till a school tells the NCAA and ESPN that until they deal with UNC they can take their investigations and sanctions and go to hell.

There has to be a venue for such an outcry,a state or Federal Court,Congress or some investigatory agency. The power of UNC and the NCAA doesn't extend to infinity. At some point enough is enough.

That is what bugged me about Tuesday in ESPN. I love they took UL to the woodshed but they could and should of done the same thing to UNcheat

President of ESPN is UNC alum so I guess that is it.

This is what I have been thinking since the UL thing came out and especially since the OTL episode. I have no love for UL, but ESPN is hypocritical in not ever ever ever talking about the HUGE SCANDAL going on at UNC!

Nothing but praise will come from the announcers when UNC comes to UL 2/1.

None of them would dare challenge Pitino or Roy.

kyups01 you need to look the definition up of : GOLDENCHILD

but back to Pitino...I think he is done. How could he not ask questions that would lead to some answers in 4 years? He simply chose to not know. Not one recruit said ANYTHING? Because he didn't want to know.

That's what ESPN would say but real reason is they've been largely silent on the issue for years bc of UNC alum ties.

I think both are true. They barely covered the UNC deal because of who runs ESPN but this UL deal would have had more staying power regardless because of the salacious nature of it.

Maybe ESPN backed off because: first, nothing new is happening right now (we're still waiting for the NCAA to decide if they want to create a new NOA); second, going all in with MareBear was a bad idea considering her "research" was flawed, she lied several times to obtain data she should not have had, the "Rosa parks paper" story was fabricated, and I could keep going. Why do you think the national media backed off so quickly once this came out? When's the last time you read a Ganim or Barret (sp?) article on this subject? Probably around the same time MareBear was exposed. This left them with Rashad McCants, who's not the most credible person (not to mention he refuses to be interviewed by anyone about this).

Oh, yeah, why would a university fire a coach who was NEVER MENTIONED IN ANY allegation? Why are you (anyone) not crying over Jim Boeheim still having a job? or Brown?

Don't get too excited with the pressure being off UNC temporarily. Once UL's banner comes down it'll be that much easier to take down 2005 and 2009.

It is hard not to notice what is happening to UL, but I take no pleasure in it. I know some here feel differently. I am glad I cannot relate to that level of animosity.

But, I do think it ironic that UL fans have called Cal a cheater for years and say things like "enjoy it now, because when the NCAA nails ya...."

No program is immune. And the holier than thows in college sports are gonna always get theirs. Don't be that.

Before yesterday I thought Pitino would still be coach at UL. Now it isn't as much as IF he gets fired, but WHEN will he be fired!!
