Well the tie-breaker was not explained and the black girl lost. Almost a no-brainer on this decision. Not sure it’s made if roles reversed.

But what’s $100K to Dr. Pepper.

Not familiar with this contest but 100K to winner and nothing to the loser seems strange.

Loser got 20k. So Dr P is out another 80k. I make that a year. They make it in probably a week AND this is a write off for them.

This was going to be a PR nightmare for Dr. Pepper. They used a "tiebreaker" from the day before that caused the African-American girl to lose. Not surprising at all that they made the decision to give the other contestant $80,000 more to even it out for both.

My other question is why did the winner get chose to participate if she was going to a non-SEC school(Baylor)????

Exactly what I was thinking. This probably already had the twitter mob ablaze.

Lol! It's their money and their contest. If they want it that way and anyone thinks it's weird, they don't have to take part. Lmao...

Loser got $20,000. Still , they ended up tied, so either split the money, or give them both the money. Pullingba "tie breaker" out of thin air was bad optics. And the racial component cannot be ignored in today's day and age. Pay them both 100k or have a plant/city burn. Easy choice.

( calm down nancies. That was a joke. BLM/Antifa wasn't watching. Not enough soy)

I just found the video of it. It's ridiculous that companies have to bow down to the mob. If the rules were used and both were told of the rules than they shouldn't have to worry about repercussions from the mob.

Now the rule might suck and they should change it in the future but they shouldn't have to be pressured into doing it now. What happens if the other girl won the tiebreaker yesterday and got the $100k instead? I bet there would still be outrage that she also got the $100k.

The winner of the Big 12 version was a kid from duke who battled a girl from a community college. Seriously.
