I missed most the game and got home in time to see the last 10 mins. I see Skal only played 8 mins and also picked up another technical. Can someone fill me in on what he did to get the T? Also, why only 8 mins? Was it due to continued poor play or was it a result of the T?

The technical was B.S. That being said, he didn't play much because he was his normal self. He's just not a good basketball player; there's really no other way to spin it.

He tried another crotch shot but this time while lined up on the lane during a foul shot. What a clown. I have no idea what his problem is.

He got the T because he has built a reputation. He has no clue what playing tough means. He thinks it's playing slap hands with people. T shouldn't have been called, but he needs learn the difference in playing tough and acting tough.

The T was a joke. It happened before a free throw. Him and the guy beside him were playing handsies and it turned into a minor shove. Boom, technical, not on both, just Skal.

The tech may have been BS, but Skal is also confused about what being physical is. He did something about as equally dumb at Bama. No way what he did was not going to be called at the very least a foul. It was a dumb play on his part. I'm beginning to think Skal's basketball IQ is very very low. He basically gave the guy a forearm shiver on a dead ball where he got no advantage, plus with all 3 officials looking right at the Lane. It may have been a petty "T", but it was still a dumb move on Skal's part.

Exactly. Did something equally dumb at Bama as well. Beginning to think he doesn't understand the game very well. Not knocking the kid I'm sure he is as confused as the rest of us watching him.

Guy was never taught how to play the game so he has no ball IQ. That said, the T was poor call, should've been a warning given if there were competent refs on-site.

It was just the normal hand-checking that goes on at the Free Throw line. Other guy tapped Skal. He tapped back and got the T. Refs looked at the monitor, and still decided not to make it a double T. Bad SEC refs.. again.

The ref's should have went to the monitor for a second look and called a double technical

Actually I think if they had gone to the monitor the other 2 refs would have laughed at that ref for calling 1 technical.

but he needs learn the difference in playing tough and acting tough.

Well put. I don't know what the deal is with him. He still plays ridiculously soft inside, yet recently he's taken to trying to act tough when the ball's not in play with the facial expressions and little slap hands routine.

Sorry, fella, it doesn't work that way. You can't make people think you're a tough player with an act, instead you've got to prove it on the court when the ball's in play--stop flinching from contact underneath, start blocking out better, start outfighting and outscrapping guys for contested rebounds, etc.--and cut out the extracurricular nonsense after the whistle's blown.

I have been watching BB games for ever, first time I have ever seen a T called waiting for a foul shot, the Refs was nuts today..

Was a stupid move by Skal but the fact is that when the whistles blew the mid-court ref was calling a tech on Skal and at the same time the baseline ref was calling a foul (and pointing directly at) Bowers. Somehow that call never came to fruition, only the tech on Skal. should have been double foul at least because that's what was originally called.

2nd technical in a row that was really both sides, and we only got called for it.

Say what you want, but if those two calls were normal (or FFS if Kentucky can for once get some GD Blue Blood treamment), Kentucky beats Bama by 15 and we win this game in a close one to march to a top10 spot and a firm #2 seed.

I mean it's utterly comical what Cal's Kentucky teams have to endure, compared to other elite teams.

If we got the normal treatment, I'm not sure Cal/Kentucky would have 10 losses in 7 years.

He's calling on his inner Magloire.

I thought it was a quick whistle. How many times have we seen the retaliation get called. Should have been a no cal or double foul.

I don't think they went to tape as it was not a full blown pushing contest.

Skal is one of two things basically. 1. He's a four year project. 2. He's not UK level talent.
Not sure which of those will be ultimately proven true but, he is certainly a bust at this point.
He reminds me of a weak Perry Stevenson, who could at least block shots. He will never return to UK, even if not drafted. You have to remember, he has to support a family in Haiti, and even the 70 thousand he could make in Europe will feed them more than than they have ever known. Unfortunately, Cal was sold a bill of goods on this guy, and IMHO it seems he is spending too much time trying to salvage a guy who just isn't cut out for Kentucky.

I keep thinking about Joe B. Hall pulling the whole first string during the Florida State game...I mean it's different because it was at the half during that game, but if you are going to lose against these bottom feeders anyway, what is there to lose?

I can't stand that this makes slimy Pearl look like he's some freaking brain surgeon. At that miserable announcing team where oh-so-happy to be there for his party...

Perry? Really? Lost me there...

The second guy to make contact usually gets the foul call. Other teams now know how Skal will respond. He is young and in time will learn. He has much to learn about playing basketball.

Only reason I like the NBA. Their refs would not of even blinked at this.

This!!!

Should have been a no call, but teams have seen the Skal and Simmons tape and he is going to get this stuff, Bowers is just the guy to do that kind of thing, every team has one.

Skal is way behind in several developmental areas(physically, mentally and emotionally) he is not ready to deal with this level of competition.

Teams will bait Skal...he has not a clue how to be tuff...he thinks slapping nuts is tough. He will do something stupid every game

i don't mean to pile on skal, but i'm baffled as to how the basketball braniacs who rate players and project their nba draft status rated him a top two pick. i can't believe any of our coaching staff could have watched him and thought he was uk-level talent. in all my years as a uk fanatic i've never seen a blue chipper so hyped as skal turn out to be such a total---hate to say it---bust.

It was not a technical. It was called a dead ball intentional foul and it was the right call. No need for the sharp elbow jab at that point. The kid has so much growing up to do mentally and physically that it will take a while. But he'll have to do it in the D League.

That is why the ref crossed his arms in the intentional foul form rather than made the T with his hands.

Though...Skal may have been making an attempt for the balls....
