Even though he hasn't lived up to the hype this season. One of those nba teams will draft him mid to late in the 1st round based on his potential. I like to see him go to the Celtics or Mavericks.

He probably will. But it would be a stupid pick. He wouldn't see a single NBA minute his first year. My might play a little his 2nd year, and possibly contribute some his 3rd.
OP must hate the Celtics & Mavericks.

Supposedly the worst draft in a generation. Honestly, he'd probably be dumb to come back. At some point, it's no longer a matter of potential, you are what you are. By that time, maybe he's just exposed for what he is...

Yes he will. Draft is always potential over production. Plus its a down draft, and our team will be loaded next year. He would barely see the floor.

Whoever drafts him will be wasting a pick though. He'll be a really good player, but itll be awhile. His potential wont show until his second contract imo.

The idea that some people are still clinging to the myth of Skal is mind boggling. As many coaches have said, the tape doesn't lie. The guy is at least two years away from being a serviceable college player, let alone competing in the NBA.

I just can't see it, right now. He gets abused and manhandled by college kids, much less the NBA. He MAY be strong enough to legitimately contribute to a NBA franchise in a few years, but right now he would be lucky to be playing ball somewhere overseas. There's no way in Hades, I would waste a lottery pick on Skal right now. Great Kid, but we're talking business here.

I would take Ulis over Skal, and I'm thinking Ulis will go early second (although I'm hoping he sneaks into the first). The issues that Skal has go far beyond strength imo, and strength is a big issue too, and I will never understand how he is still near the lottery (at least on draftexpress).

I just hope Big Cuz don't mistake him for Marcus Smart we might not ever find him.

It will be decided if he stays in the draft or comes back to school by his workouts. He will be invited to workout for every nba team that's interested in him. If the teams like what they see they will let him know if he's a take as a 1st rounder or a second rounder for them.
If he performs well and has a consistent jumper he will be drafted in the first round. If he doesn't perform well then teams will pass. It's that simple.
I'd expect most every one of our guys to declare and work out to guage themselves on where they stand against others and what they need to work on.

What position will Skal play in the NBA? The 4? So, Skal can guard an NBA 4 with the league going smaller and quicker? The 5? With his strength issues now, can you imagine him trying to body an NBA 5 even 3 years from now? The time that I think he is worthy of a first round pick will be the time that he shows it in the NBA. I just can't see it. If he rebounded even somewhat better I would somewhat see it because rebounding typically translates, but he is an abysmal rebounder (and it's not all strength related). Best of luck to him, but if he wasn't so highly rated coming out of high school, he would be a 3-4 year player and this discussion would be moot.

He has as good a chance playing next year in the NBA as would here next year. Not really, but it's not THAT far fetched. Seriously, he's headed for the D League.

I'd kick my gm in the nuts at half court if he picked Skal with a first round pick.

Skal wouldn't get minutes in the D league. He's barely a college player. This shit is hilarious of him entering the draft. He was way overvalued in limited time against any competition in highschool. Got exposed for his true ability at UK, and only at UK would you hear this non sense of him "having" to go pro. If Skal played on any other team in the country this wouldn't even be a discussion at all. Nope. He would be just another over hyped high school recruit who would play 4 years.

Is the d-league now drafting? Besides jump shooting what does he do well? He can't rebound, he can't post up, he rarely fights for rebounds, he's a foul machine, and his defense is awful. If that makes him a first round pick I fully expect to be drafted in the second round. I love skal and want him to succeed but no way in hell is he a first round pick right now. Marcus lee has a better chance at being a first rounder. The fact they list skal as a lottery pick is laughable at this point unless he has an excellent post season then maybe

This stuff of him being drafted absolutely Blows my Mind. If he gets drafted , he will be the worst player drafted "at their current form" that I have ever seen in my life.

No where close to nba ready. He doesn't fully understand the game.

Who the hell is Michael Bennett?

If you're thinking of Anthony Bennett, that's really not a good comparison at all. Hate to break it to you, but Skal is nowhere close to where Bennett was as a college player. Bennett was actually a damn good college player, dude was a double double machine who dominated in the paint at UNLV, he had no problem with the college game, instead it wasn't until he got to the pros that he got exposed. Skal, on the other hand, has already been exposed before even getting to that step.

I'm afraid the worst case scenario for Skal might be someone like Chris Walker a couple years ago. Walker was projected by all as a Top 5 lottery pick coming out of high school, but got exposed at Florida as being unable to play. Went pro anyways, fell to the second round, and has never been heard from since.

Potential??? Has that definition changed?? Or does that mean 6'10?? That is all he has going is height & it SURE hasn't helped him.

Cannot see a NBA team dumb enough to pick him in the first round, got to alot better men thru out College BB than him..

Thing is , Walker would've been a 1st round pick if he left after his Freshmen season.

He decided to return, showed no growth & actually went undrafted.

So yeah, another example as to why Skal should & will leave after this season. Get that $.

But he would become an instant millionaire!!! Would you go back to school? Come on people... if he is the 14th pick in the draft as is being projected at this moment the kids first year salary would be 1.7 million his second year salary would be 1.8 mil... how many of you make that much money in a lifetime?
