Silver Lining from tonights lackluster 2nd half

Being pissed isn't enough. He needs to find 2 guards for his OL. Our guards got whipped all night. And this has been 3 years now they have been bad. He also needs to start over again at QB.

How could anyone be over confident going on the road in the SEC when they haven't won a road game in a few years.

we won. but now stoops has a reason to be pissed all week and get his guys fired up.

my main concern going into the USCjr game was overconfidence. they won't have this problem now. they will be hungry.

that being said. we won tonight. we are 1-0.
I've been scrolling through this mornings threads looking for one with something optimistic to say about last nights game . Thank you .

I thought the receivers played extremely well! Unfortunately, ULL confirmed once again the script for every SEC team to beat UK. Stack the box and dare Towles to beat them long. Problem going forward is that SEC corners are gonna eat that up... Until UK has an offensive line that can open holes, they will remain a pass first/run second offense. To Shannon Dawson: Can we see a deep crossing route??? Maybe passing more to our highly touted TE when folks stack the box... Defensively... We are very young in the secondary... Played decent I thought. DL is non-existent. Why oh why does the NG line up a yard from the ball on 3rd and 1 togo??? Don't get it...

I went and looked at the stats... ULL was better in just about all stats except points... The defense played way too much because the offense cannot put together sustained drives.

We had 257 yards passing, they had 232.
We ran 6.8 yards / carry. They ran 5.3.
We had 16 yards / completion, they had 9
We had two interceptions, they had one.
We got two fumbles, they had 0.
We had 30 / kick of return, they had 19.
We had 16 / point return, they had -2.
We had 4 penalties for 54 yards, they had 7 for 70.

There was no silver lining from the second half, sorry....
you don't need to apologize. we just disagree. I do see a silver lining. id rather our inefficiencies be brought to light in a winnable game where the coaches can make corrections, rather than in the USCjr game

Total Yards: We had 435, ULL had 479.
First Downs: We had 18, ULL had 28.
Time of Poss: We had 22:55, ULL had 37:05
Passing Yards: We had 257, ULL had 232. (Yes, I know UK won this stat)
Completions: We had 16, ULL had 26.
Rushing Yards: We had 178, ULL had 247.
Rushing Attempts: We had 26, ULL had 47.

Don't get me wrong SaguaroCat, I'm not trying to rain on the parade, but ULL controlled the game... They made the adjustments at half-time and executed. UK's offense did not control the game which led the defense to spend WAY TOO MUCH TIME ON THE FIELD!!

Yeah, I'm not sure how anyone could be overconfident. I think before last night most were pretty confident, but now we are like who the hell knows what will happen. I'm sure the players and coaches are confident, as they should be, but I doubt they were even overconfident. That would be silly. And it has been since 2009, six years.

People are losing their mind and is there some concern...yes, but let's look deeper. UK scored quick several times lowering time of possession and decreasing potential first down #s. Josh Allen missed a pick 6, a missed field goal, also one terribly under thrown ball when UK was up 8 when the offense needed to rest a tired defense. What if that pass is completed or batted down to save the possession?.....just like Freddie maggard said UK was a few inches or plays from 50 points. If the final was 50-33 with the same stats people wouldn't say a word. Defense gave up 2 late touchdowns that other sec defenses would have stopped and that needs to be fixed and so does o-line play and accuracy from the qb. But the talent is there, let's hope UK learned a lesson without having to actually suffer.

UK will be fine. Still think 7-5 is on the table.
