SIAP: Kentucky has Reached Out to Efton Reid

Interesting information. I just gleaned an article quickly about him, and he said he was exploring his opportunities, and not for sure staying in 2021. That to me indicates a strong possibility of reclassification, as those recruits usually deny that possibility.

If we are getting the big guy from Purdue, why are we reaching out to this young man? Yeah, I could see having two big centers on the team but not sure one of them wants to be second fiddle.

So, I guess our only options now are to try and get one of Banchero, Kepnang, Efton, or Kuminga to reclass and commit to UK. If not, looks like we'll have to roll with what we've got. Looking like a tall order. I'm afraid, out of that group, Efton is our only hope for 2020.

Poor skinny Jackson is going to take a beating.

He’s up for the challenge or he wouldn’t have committed to UK

I largely agree, but this is not always true. Juzang. Whitney. Baker. Green. Matthews. SKJ. Wynyard. Gabriel. Those guys thought they were up for the challenge, but faded at the first sign of real competition. Some of them (Gabriel) went on to hurt the program later.

I do think it's true in Jackson's case. Part of "embracing it" is that he's up for competing against other great interior players. The problem is this: we only have two guys who can really play on the low block consistently, and they're both top 40ish power forwards.

I don't want to depend on guys like Brooks to play on the low block. We tried that with Poythress and Lee in 2016, and it didn't end well.
