Siap ESPN Has UK #1 in Way Too Early Rankings

Avid UK fan here. I don't see that, at all.
I'm looking at next year more as a "down" year (by our standards).
I'll say a 3-5 seed and who knows what happens in March.

I agree. 10 losses next year. 2018-19 is looking good though because the 2017-18 team will have very few OAD's. Add Bagley and a few others and 2018-19 will be a huge season.
If Bam and Briscoe leave, there's no way we'll be a top 4 seed. I'm looking at a minimum of 9-10 losses. Our '14 team had double figure losses and they had one of our greatest classes ever.
If you look at our talent and everthing most likely coming back UK has to be top 3. UF and UL will both be damn good and DUke if Allen and Kennard come back will be right there as well. UCLA is a top 5ish team but for some reason they have them at 20ish and UNC who loses almost everything in the top 5 which is ass backwards IMO>
We'll have a lot of talent and toughness but there will be some potentially huge holes too and we will be insanely young (shocker right?)
I expect us to lose a chunk of games to teams that are inferior to us talent-wise because they either I'll shoot us, or we just make too many freshmen mistakes. I'm cautiously optimistic that we end up with a 3-4 seed and, like previous seasons, we grow together and make a run in the tournament.

Yeah but all the top teams are losing a lot. Kentucky should have the most talent which is what they are basing these rankings on.
Puts a team with a ton of unknowns in a bad situation. If you win oh well but if the players are not ready to perform at the level of an elite team then the media can call them and Cal a failure.
They even came out with a bracketology. The media mainly just does this stuff to generate hits and discussion. I would wait until June when the rosters are finalized. All of the top programs have players that are still up in the air about leaving, for UK it's Briscoe. Also there are recruits and grad transfers available that will still make rosters.
If Briscoe comes back and Bamba returns then UK is likely number one, I agree. However I think Briscoe will leave but UK will likely get a grad transfer to fill some depth at the guard position. In all honesty UK probably needs two grad transfers that play guard because without Briscoe all we have are two freshmen.

why are you all suddenly worried about what the media, opposing fans or anyone else calling us overrated? Hell, we had a top 5 team a good portion of this season and several other seasons who were definitely in contention to win it all, and we still got called overrated and dissed constantly by the media, opposing teams and our own "fans". I appreciate the fact that they at least recognize we should have the best talent, again.
