Yup. Cal offered today.Any word on if there is any mutual interest?
Well Cal has offered him a scholarship. I sincerely hope there is no truth to that. We are loaded with wings with questionable outside shooting. Cam Johnson is the better get of the two imo. He provides leadership, shooting, and we lose nothing on size between the two. He's a proven contributor on the division 1 level. I'll take that everyday and twice on Sunday over an unproven HS player (especially one from what is widely considered a weak class overall). On KSR, Matt eluded to the possibility that Cal is waiting on taking Cam Johnson because of Kevin Knox. I say sign Johnson now, because Knox ain't coming here and Johnson will be a solid 2-year player for us. There is almost a 0% chance that Knox is going ANYWHERE except UNC. I say let them have him. He's an amazing talent and I'd love to have him here, but Johnson averaged nearly 12ppg and shot better than 42% from behind the arc in arguably the toughest conference in college basketball and this while playing in a completely new system last season. I say bring him in. If he can come in and average 10+ ppg and shoot better than 40% from 3 then that will be a helluva addition to the team I'd say.
Not accordingly to Alan Cutler:Actually he didn't coach him.. Just recruited him.. Cal was at Pitt from 85-88.. Cams dad played from 88-90..
I don't care what AC says,, lol.. Cal was an assistant at Pitt from 85-88.. Then HC at Umass from 88- ever how long he was there.. Cams dad played at Pitt from 88-90,, the years Cal was at Umass.. So by those dates,, AC is wrong and Cal only recruited him.. By the time he actually played,, Cal was HC..Not accordingly to Alan Cutler:
Plus, Johnson's father Gilbert played at Pitt in 1988 when Cal was there as an assistant coach.
