Im all in on Bamba. He really wants to play with Green which I believe is why most think its UK for him. The way these guys talk about Green gets me so excited for next season. Also, Bamba seems really mature and confident for his age.

IMO if he goes anywhere but uk it will be the biggest shocker in the cal era. Sure we have lost out on guys but this would be monumental

Cal losing Andrew Wiggins was the biggest shock to me in these last 8 years. At the time I could not believe he chose Kansas over UK. I had come to expect Cal would land whoever he wanted. That recruitment single handedly slowed my interest in following Recruitment's throughout the year as I once did.

Wiggins was a very good player but thanks to self and his excellent ways of ruining talent he could of been what he was expected to be. He's not lebron like originally expected but a good player in his own right. Bamba on the other hand could easily be Anthony Davis status. I'm not saying he is davis but could very well have the same impact with Wiggins we never felt as confident with him as we do with bamba. If we don't get bamba I for one will be pissed

Bamba reminds me a lot of David Robinson, incredibly intelligent young man who is going to become an icon in the league and enjoy a long career. Unfortunately, whoever gets him in college will only see a fraction of the player he will become.

Hard to imagine how good he can be once his frame fills out and matures and he plays in a more open offense in the NBA. He has a decent outside shot, but I suspect Cal is going to mainly focus on teaching him fundamentals while he is here. Many have compared him to Noel, but I think his ceiling is much higher than Noel's in the league. I think he could be right up there in the same stratosphere as Davis, Cousins, Towns eventually.

I agree, I was shocked as well. But Adidas showed up with a check

@#$@#$#%@$....You have to change your damn name now.....in the WRONG way.....unless the NCAA takes a banner or two...but we know that's not going to happen. :(

Very bright kid. Ive watched a few of his interviews. I don't think any recruiting rhetoric is gonna fool this kid.
This guy is a future CEO of something.

What is the deadline for returning? Bam says he's not hiring an agent, but isn't there a date after which he can't come back? Just wondering if Bamba could wait until that date passes, or Bam hires an agent.

I will be so disappointed if he goes to Duke. And yeah, he definitely seems like he's about 10 yrs older than he is.

I read somewhere that he got a 32 composite on his ACT. That is crazy good. Also why he is looking at Duke and Michigan. He is smart enough to get in to those schools without being an athlete. I would expect him to go back and get his degree wherever he lands. I hope Cal made a good case for UK's academics!

He has said he wants to get to the NBA as quick as he can. He mentioned seeing all those players on the wall at UK. This kid is unique. He said when he first meets people sometimes they will think he doesn't speak English and he just plays along. He has a very wry sense of humor. Would be an immediate fan and media favorite.

I think the date for him to come back is May 24th

Ummm most thought he would end up somewhere other than UK but KU was a surprise.

You can wait until school starts. You don't have to sign a LOI . Hell I never would as it ties you too much to a school and who knows what could happen .

I know, but I was wondering if Bamba were waiting to see what Bam does, how long could that play out.

Not at all. Most thought he was UK's to lose TBK called Wiggins to UK as a "best guess". Matt at the Shiver said UK was his "best guess". I don't care about dipsht espn insider garbage or Jerry Meyer who know absolutely nothing. Wiggins recruitment was air tight shut, anyone who claimed they knew was lying. But the wisdom was with UK 100%. Stop following basic MSM recruiting it's all fluff they know zero.

At the time we were the perfect spot for Wiggins. It was still early in the OAD phase with Cal. We were winning and hot. Hell most people thought FSU before Kansas.

A) Wiggins is averaging north of 20 points, he is legit! Too many people on this board act like he is a scrub in the NBA, he is one of the top young scorers and players in the league.
B) UK was NOT a good fit, already had Randle, Twins, Young, etc. UK was crowded...

I was not surprised at all, disappointed but never thought it was a lock!!!

Great interview. Really hope that we get Bamba. Robinson is a great comparison.

As of February, he said he got a 30.

Agree 100%! When I was his age, I would have struggled to speak in front of a camera. This kid is mature and smooth and quite thoughtful. Hope he becomes a Cat!

I'm already looking forward to hearing Mo, Quade, and Hamidou at NCAA tournament press conferences next year as UK plows through opponents.

UK actually wasn’t that crowded, especially when one considers the defensive limitations of James Young. Cal was bringing Hawkins in as the first guard/wing off the bench by the end of the season. Wiggins would have started at the 3 and given UK a real defensive wing player. Cal would have subsequently started either Young or Aaron at the 2, with the guy who didn’t make it being the first off the bench instead of Hawkins.

Poythress could have then continued to back up Wiggins and Randle at the 3 and 4 positions.

UK could have used Wiggins. He probably would have put UK over the title barrier that year, and would have helped his own brand immensely. His handlers failed him when they promoted Kansas.

Probably not that long once Bam gets NBA feedback. May 9th through the 14th are the dates for the pre-draft combine. I'm guessing Bamba waits until that concludes and we'll probably hear something regarding Bam during or directly thereafter.
