SI article breaking down top 8 offenses

An interesting read. I really loved the table breaking down our leading scorers over the season. And, though a lot of the analysis wasn't new information, it made me feel more confident in the ability of our defense to contain the other 'best offenses' in the country. They all tend to rely on one or two strengths…not players, but other 'strengths.' For example, UVA leads the country in put-back percentage offense. But if faced with size like Kentucky's (and assuming we play aggressively) that advantage may well be negated. Another example: I already knew that guarding the 3 against Duke would be key, but I had no idea that drop-off in PPP on catch-and-shoot jumpers vs. dribble jumpers was 1.157 and 0.703, respectively. That's huge! Make them put the ball on the floor.

Anywho, interesting read. Apologies if already posted…didn't see it anywhere.

That's a good article. I think our scoring is understated in that article. If you look at the third scorer in a lot of our games, the point total is very close to the first and second scorers. That is the threat that other teams face. It's not really who has the hot hand and ride that as much as which hot hand are you going to focus on?

those CHARTS tell me one thing: Baylor and West Virginia will be in our bracket. They offensive rebound real well -- [both are top 5]-- and will be used by the NCAA to try and stop our season. If you can stop Kentuckys rebounding then you got a chance.

I agree. On a given night we can have 3-4 players with the hot hand. And that means you have to prep to play very solid defense on about 8 guys. That's tough for the opposition.
