Should anyone really be surprised we are struggling?

First and foremost Skai has laid a complete goose egg when it has counted. This is HUGE. Not only this, but when Skai is playing he is a liability to the team. He can't guard and he can't rebound. And the only shot he seems to be capable of hitting is a face up 12 foot jump shot. I am sure Cal expected at least 12 and 8 from him and to be a defensive presence in the paint. How do you replace this? Try taking Davis or Cousins off either team and guess what would have happened. Look at the results after Nerlens went down.

And looking at our team from a totally emotionless standpoint, fans should be just a bit concerned when Derick Willis works his way into the starting lineup. I love Derrick and I'm glad he is on our team, but IMHO he is not UK starting material. I also don't think that Willis would be starting for hardly any other Top 20 school. This is telling. How many other of Cal's UK teams would Willis be starting for? Not bashing....just facts.

Our other interior presence, Marcus Lee, is having a terrible season for a upperclassman. Surely Cal did not expect him to be playing so soft!

We really only have one good experienced interior player who can bang, and that is Poythress. But, but, but, he cannot stay out of foul trouble which is also huge. In the end though Skai not contributing a friggin' thing is killing our team. And what can be done about this? IMO and at this point not much. Pretty sad. Wish I could blame Cal but not here. He is just critically lacking good interior players. And finally, are we really losing to worse teams? I'm not so sure anymore. Hope we can turn things around. Going to be tough unless our interior players decide to start playing some UK style ball.

Poythress getting a minimum of one foul a game by grabbing at a defensive rebounder who has already SECURED the rebound makes me want to puke. EVERY.SINGLE.GAME.

You misspell Skal twice and havent posted on this board since late november? Get lost.

THIS X 10000

Especially when he does it to pick up his 5th foul.

I mean with 4 fouls you'd have to figure he be at least cautious ...............man

Great post and I totally agree. Honestly only have two good top tier D1 players. Briscoe is better than most but would be a great back up for Ulis on a good team.

Compare our energy and performance in this game to the KU game, the Arkansas game, the Missouri game and the Vandy game. Those teams are all better than UT but we decided to lay an egg tonight.
Heck, Vandy blew UT's doors off in, K-ville.

Terrible coaching and even worse effort from our players.
This should not have been a struggle.
