Shift in power at UofL?

I don't really think Jurich could do anything about it if he wanted to. The only leverage he ever had was he could leave for another job. I really think his star has fallen so far that nobody worth a crap would take him anymore.

I'll believe it when I see it, or until Jurich is actually gone.
Yup, I don't think the interim president is going to do anything without Jurich's permission. Are they even searching for a new president? Seems like it would be good to have one in place for all of the important decisions they are and will be making.

We will know the power has shifted when they actually have the good sense to clean house. How can a public university keep people on staff with the history that the ul administrators, including athletic director, basketball coach, and football coach have?

No way that sounds good for Tom. Saw in the article where he blabbed 7 months ago about "UL should leave the YUM and play elsewhere" when he was trying to play hardball about the renegotiation. I can only assume he's been busy getting Freedom Hall to host their games.

If the power is truly shifting it will be interesting to see how long Tom stays around. Hard to see him remaining for any notable amount of time if he no longer wields the power and influence he did under Ramsey. I bet he'd like to see the football stadium expansion completed, he may not be able to though.

I think it's pretty clear that Jurich found some form of weakness in Ramsey and made him his bitch. Jurich ran that athletic department, and to some extent the University, like the Don of a mafia empire, you can go down a laundry list of the types of organized crime that mafia organizations engage in and UofL could be checked off on a whole lot of them. Money laundering, paying (or threatening) people to keep quiet. Strong arming the media and their own boosters, racketeering, destroying evidence, shady real estate transactions, shady deals all around and much of it geared towards athletic success and not towards bettering the university for the students. Their fans want to talk about how he's transformed the university campus, and they have transformed the athletic facilities, but compare all of those facilities with the rest of the campus, the academic facilities, housing, student center, etc. not much has been done. Compare that to UK's campus where I hardly recognize it from the one I graduated from in 1993. Jurich preyed on Ramsey's weakness to literally run that University how he saw fit, and it's about time the new sheriff in town puts him in his place.

There won't be a shift in power until Jurich is gone. So far I don't think anyone on the board or the interim AD has the balls to do that.

Here are the latest board minutes regarding the audit of the Louisville Arena Authority. Scroll to the last line in bold and read from there.

http://www.lrc.ky.gov/minutes/cap_proj/170620ok.htm

Some interesting tidbits, I found this quite interesting:
"In regard to the recently completed audit of the LAA, Mr. Frankenberger said without a corresponding audit of the ULAA (University of Louisville Athletic Association), the results of the audit are inconclusive. He said an audit of the ULAA would identify all streams of revenue that flow directly to it."

Under proposed new yuk center deal ul would pay additional $2.5 million a year and give up 48 dates a year.

Let's see if Tneck will move the tards out of the arena like he has threatened to do.

With their raise of season ticket prices, they continue to push the burden on those who support that cesspool. The university is not giving much at all. They may still rake in money off Taylor Swift merchandise. Its a complete joke.

How can a not for profit org make a profit without it being returned to the taxpayers ? If the cards did pull out of the yum and leave the taxpayers holding the bag then the state should not fund that sheethole of a school.

Common misconception that a non-profit can't run a surplus or have cash on hand. They just aren't allowed to take that surplus and transfer it to the owner(s) or pay out dividends.

How short on payments has the arena been? What impact will the $2.5M have, for those who remember that?

I've been saying for a very long time that the Bevin victory and desire to clean out the swamp known as UofL would end in the tearing up of the original deal...that the fear that UofL would swoop in to buy the YUM for pennies on the dollar was a STUPID fear.....and most recently that Jurich will have lost favor with the new board who will be, at the Gov. direction, be more academic in focus. Jurich has allowed UofL to become a total laughing stock throughout the country. And when the final nail in the coffin slams shut (the banner removal) Jurich as well as Pitino are BOTH dead men walking. Mark it down.
