Serious Beau Allen Question

It was obvious that Beau Allen would get very little if any game experience at all if he stayed at UK this year because of WL, our schedule, and CMS coaching philosophy of not giving QB2 any meaningful snaps in any game, barring injury to QB1.

My first thought at the time, was, is it possible that BA and CMS determined it would be best for BA and UK (since we are definitely going to be looking for QB1 next year, possibly from the portal again) , for BA to transfer to a lower division school to get real game experience for a year, and then transfer back to UK next year as QB1?

My serious question is, CAN HE? Under current transfer rules, can a player still transfer up in class and be eligible immediately???

If the answer is yes, do you think BA WOULD transfer back in for QB1 job????

I think you're correct but don't think it will be UK. I think he dropped down and chose a school with QB1 potential. I think he wanted to get film out there so he'll have better options next year.

I'm not sure of all your questions, but I do think we'll see a lot more transfers in/out in the coming years. A QB like Allen, could transfer to a lower school in need........gain experience and exposure.....then go to a higher profile team when needed. (including UK)

If he'd have won the definite #2 job here he'd have stayed probably. I doubt he'd transfer back here under any reasonable circumstance.
Under CMS, it doesn't matter if you are QB2, 3, or 4, other than practice, and not much then.

QB1 is getting all the game snaps they can physically handle, unless there is a total blowout, and then there will be NO pass plays from CMS for the backup.

I don't think being QB2 factored in to BA decision. I really think it was all about gaining real game experience that he wasn't going to get at UK playing behind WL.

Anyone know for sure what transpired??

He’s a D2 levers qb at best. He was never going to win in the sec as a starting qb. The biggest question is why would anyone want him back? I’ve been saying since the guy was in high school that’s he’d never play here.

the only way the two backups right now play is if stoops can’t bring in a too transfer next year and if that happens next year will be awful

The NCAA just passed a law saying you can only transfer once without sitting out. Now, could Beau appeal that and petition to play here next year? I dunno.

Hogan and/or Sheron passed him so it came time for him to move on if he was going to play. Glad he came, wish him well.
Is this factual or your opinion of what happened? Just curious.

Never saw anything that gave any indication he had been passed up as QB2? Including spring game.

A player has always had the right to transfer UP to another division and be immediately eligible.

Are you saying that changed or is Tarleton State D-1 now, also???

Opinion but it's pretty obvious.
Thanks.

I don't know anything about the reason BA left, but my first thought was that it was a mutual decision between BA and CMS with the opportunity to come back to UK after gaining a year of game experience at a smaller school.

Agree it was mutual, doubt it involved a return trip. Do think it's likely Stoops helped place him. Seems one of Tarleton's offensive coaches, QB I think, had spent a previous stint at EKU. Don't know, just guessing, but think he and BA may have met previously.

I’m not sure how all this works. I just read the NCAA nixed unlimited transfers and narrowed the time frames to transfer.

Glad they did. Otherwise you would have a pladin situation all the time everywhere; "Have gun, will travel. "

True for most P5 head coaches. Not just Stoops. And in this case, it is an OC decision.

He has 4 years left he could actually play two years and transfer with two left correct?

I remember Rock saying they told him he not QB 2 and possibly 4. After talking to them he immediately entered the portal. UK has had backups strat due to injuries. Not last year but the 2-3 previous years so it definitely means a lot. If he came back there is little chance he would be the starter. I like Beau but most reports say Scang didn't. They are going after a big fish, not someone that couldn't make there 2 deep

Thanks. Hadn't heard that from Rock. Just hope Scang stays longer than 1 year to follow through on this offense........and I hope his play calling is up to SEC level defenses.
