The fun in Hoover begins tomorrow at 10:30 Eastern Standard Time with No. 6 Ole Miss facing No. 11 Alabama. Kentucky will be playing in game 3 of the SEC tournament at roughly 5:30 against No. 9 Auburn. The winner of the UK/Auburn game gets to face LSU. The first game is single elimination, so it is a huge game because if you get past there it becomes double elimination. UK needs this tournament to pad its resume for the NCAA tournament and going home on Tuesday would not be something that bodes well for their tournament hopes.

Honestly I think UK needs to win at least two games to get into the tourney. I'm not sure one win will help.

I imagine we will see the Zack Brown band on the bump tomorrow afternoon, Auburn had a starting pitcher named 1st team all-sec. BTW congrats to Javon Shelby 1st team all-sec, Kyle Barrett 2nd team, and Evan White all freshman team, and 1st team all-sec defensive team !

I have to imagine that it is Brown as well. I think the fact that we have now gotten Cody to find his stride will also help us going forward. It is going to be a tough call to really see where we will land, if anywhere, in the NCAA. Our RPI is currently 56th. That is not great, but it is one spot higher than Missouri, who has 2 fewer wins than us overall. It is also better than South Carolina, who is at 60. We finished 8th in the SEC and most years it seems as though 9-10 teams get in. Auburn has an RPI well above ours at 23. So, I think it is not unreasonable to put us around 9th in the SEC. Which, in years past, has been good enough to get in. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

If I'm not mistaken the series loss to Ga at home cost us 20 RPI spots or we might be a shoe in right now...:cool:

Well, I think the Georgia series in particular cost us a ton. I don't know that it was losing. I looked before the series and we were 38th or somewhere there about. After the first loss in the series I looked again and we had dropped into something like 50th. So, I think just playing a team with such a poor RPI, they are currently 93rd, hurt our RPI. I don't know that winning that series would have bumped us up a whole lot.

I want to spend a minute depressing you guys... Missouri State is currently a top 10 team. They have had 1 CWS appearance (2003) and here is their stadium:

Technically it was built in order to house the Springfield Cardinals minor league team, but it has been the home of the Bears since 2004, when it was built.

Here is another small school, Dallas Baptist, also in the top 15, and their outstanding stadium: http://dbupatriots.com/galleries/?gallery=69

I imagine that we could go on with stadiums, but the fact that these two teams in extremely low conferences are playing in ball parks 10 times better than CHS is a complete shame.

WOW...THAT is a joke that we don't compete better than that!!...The RPI of Ga. did not cost us it is the fact than we lost the series to them AT HOME..

Beautiful stadiums pictured there. It looks as though the fans need to bombard Mitch's email account demanding some type of action. It is amazing how well we recruit with below average facilities, we could do even better IMO, with a new state of the art facility !

Through 8 innings now. Bramblett for Alabama is dealing. He has 9 strikeouts on the day already. Got 2 in the 8th.

Alabama advances to face Texas A&M tomorrow. 6-1 in this one. Bramblett struck out 10 while going the distance. Excellent first game for them, and they were able to save their bullpen for later games. Also ensures that they get at least two more games. UK needs a similar result in Game 3.

Missouri up 3-1 early against South Carolina. I would think that it might be good to have Missouri win this game. South Carolina is just behind up in the standings and they are a good bit behind us in the RPI. Missouri is right near us in RPI and just one spot ahead of us in the conference standings. Either way, I imagine that is pretty much in our hands and we just have to take the Auburn game to continue to be in the NCAA tournament talk.

Missouri advances quickly 5-1 against South Carolina. It's just 4:18. Not sure if they will go ahead and push our game up or if they will wait over an hour before starting our game.

I would really like to see just how successful Alabama has been at the SEC tournament since 1998, when they permanently went to the Hoover Met. I know 4 of their 7 SEC tournament titles were at the Met. They are also tied for the 2nd most SEC tournament titles. They are having success in the tournament this year. Makes you wonder how much of an advantage it is to be so close to home and have such a large number of fans be able to attend your games. You guys think this gives them an unfair advantage or do you guys like the central and constant location of the tournament?

Georgia, Arkansas, and Kentucky are the only long term schools not to have won an SEC title.
