Man... LSU is amazing. It seems like every year they have some SEC tournament magic and they just won't go down easily. This year they have pulled themselves from the fire twice already. I honestly think that is a bid difference between our team and theirs... their team never seems to feel out of a game while ours (and even our coach) will often seem to give up and play for another day.

Except there is no other day now...

On another note, the Big 10 tournament is pretty interesting. In that league you have Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, Indiana, and Minnesota all vying for the tournament. Michigan, Nebraska, and Ohio State all have RPIs in the top 50. Minnesota is at 50 and Indiana is way outside in the 100s, but they did finish 3rd in the league and have 31 wins. Not sure how many bids that conference will get, but if Indiana wins the conference tournament they may get an extra at large bid. On day 1 both Indiana (3 seed) and Nebraska (2) seed were upset and now have to play one another in the loser's bracket. Minnesota also got upset by Iowa and will play Michigan in the loser's bracket. It is still early in their tournament, but there have already been some upsets that could end up effecting Kentucky's ability to get into the tournament.

Well, I was specifically thinking about some of the games Henderson seemed to give up in during the season. We'd be down 3-4 runs later in the game and he'd put in some random pitcher and the lead would get extended. Basically throwing in the towel and getting his younger pitcher some work. While I am all for developing talent, you don't develop talent in a winnable game.

LSU continues to burn up the tournament. So is Ole Miss. Both are fighting for one of those national seeds. Pretty fun stuff.

In the Big 10 Indiana continues to get by, which is bad for UK. If they win it and get in then that could be one less spot for us. Michigan also beat Minnesota, so that might put Sota out.

Texas Tech plays an elimination game today after getting beaten by WVU. They are a tournament team, so if someone else, other than TTU or TCU, wins the Big 12 tournament then we're once again in hotter water.

The Big West is interesting. Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State both have RPIs in the mid 40s while UC Santa Barbara has an RPI in the 20s. They don't have a tournament, but Cal State Fullerton is playing LBSU this weekend (CSF won). LBSU has to win thee next two in order to tie CSF for the conference title. However, you have to wonder how many of these Big West teams get into the the tournament.

In the American Athletic Conf. ECU (RPI 36) was eliminated yesterday. Tulane is the top team in the conference and is in the top 15 in rankings. They lost yesterday to Houston and are on the brink of being eliminated. At least Tulane is going to make the NCAA regardless of their results, but will someone else win the tournament and bump out a spot for UK? Will ECU make the tournament with their RPI?

The Mid-American is another interesting case. Kent State has a poor RPI (61), but has 42 wins on the year. That is hard to turn away. They are still in the conference tournament and in the winner's bracket, but will the committee let them in if they don't win it?

Anyway, some interesting stuff going on in the baseball world. Fun times.

Good points all. I don't think UK is in, but every bad team that wins a conference tourney further reduces our chances.

I don't think we are in either, but might as well keep an eye on things since we won't know for sure until Monday night.

Watching these Sec tourney games shows that compared to the Top 5 or 6 Sec powers, we are far behind in talent and coaching. These teams can hit, pitch, and field. And the coaches are great at in game strategy !

A&M wins the Sec tourney in their 4th year in the league, we have been in the Sec since the start and have never even been to the Championship game. Semi-finals is our deepest advance !
