Actually I guess today could be day 1 and 3/4. Georgia and State start off the day. Looks like USC is going to start a freshman today against us.
Their coach is going to try to all staff us. Interesting strategy.Actually I guess today could be day 1 and 3/4. Georgia and State start off the day. Looks like USC is going to start a freshman today against us.
Yes, Mizzou and Auburn both started their # 1 guys, Vandy, A&M, and Ole Miss did not, neither did USC, but they had their closer throw 73 pitches. The pitching matchups have been interesting so far.
Was coming here to ask this very question. I assumed Hjelle would start the first game for us.Yes, Mizzou and Auburn both started their # 1 guys, Vandy, A&M, and Ole Miss did not, neither did USC, but they had their closer throw 73 pitches.
Nope, it will be Brad Schaenzer the lefty from Michigan. He is 5-0 on the season !Was coming here to ask this very question. I assumed Hjelle would start the first game for us.
Right, I guess I didn't actually ask my question. Why isn't Hjelle starting? Wondered if that was normal for game one of the SEC tournament.Nope, it will be Brad Schaenzer the lefty from Michigan. He is 5-0 on the season !

Schaenzer is from my neck of the woods. I live 20 minutes from his high school.
I suppose there are multiple theories on it. For the Tuesday game, it is a pretty short turnaround to pitch Thursday and then throw again on Tuesday. 5 days rest is pretty good and that would be what Hjelle had, but I think Mingione and Belanger want to keep the rotation pretty close to what it has been. Brad Schaenzer should be relatively fresh after only throwing 31 pitches last Friday. He is a pretty solid pitcher who has a few starts on the year and who has pitched pretty well. Still, got to make sure that we win this first game, because I think we need to do everything we can to boost our RPI and our resume.
The key here is what will they do in regards to Logue/Thompson? Do they keep Logue in to pitch on Saturday or will we go to Thompson? May depends on how things go the first two days.
This isn't going to work guys...hope we don't get into to big of a hole.Sure hope the bats are going and this pitching experaiment works...scares me because we CANNOT lose today and expect a national seed!!
I know balls have been flying out of the park more at Hoover through the first day but maybe the field here will play to his advantage. Logue seems to give up the HR ball more often which sets him back.
Don't know what has gotten into the coaches the last three gamesl Logue instead of Thompson? Are you kidding me!!!Cats get out of trouble in second. First 2 men on, but schaenzer gets out of a jam by getting two straight pop-ups to end the inning.
Last three games I could swear GH was coaching again!2-0 South Carolina. Schaenzer really struggling now, getting down 2-0 every batter
Remember that win or lose, we play tomorrow. You will see Hjelle pitch on Thursday, then if still playing Thompson will be next. The only thing that makes any sense is NM thinks we score a bunch of runs today.
I'm basing everything on getting that national seed...a loss today would have ended that, even though I think we should already be in!Remember that win or lose, we play tomorrow. You will see Hjelle pitch on Thursday, then if still playing Thompson will be next.
What time is our game on Thursday
