This has been an odd year for SEC football so far
Georgia is looking very average, not the juggernaut that has one back-to-back nattys. While they are still the favorite, I no longer see them as anything close to a lock to win the East this year.
Tennessee was picked by many to challenge for the East, but now they have a QB controversy and Milton, who was suppose to pick up where Hooker left off may be benched this week. Their defense is suspect and they were just humbled in the Swamp.
South Carolina did play a good first half against Georgia but were previously humbled by an average North Carolina team.
Missouri has had two close wins over MTSU and K-State, they haven't looked like an team that can go too far in the SEC this season.
Vandy doesn't appear to be able to stop the opponent, and may not be as good as last years unit
Florida appears to take a big step forward by winning over UT this past week, but they looked less than impressive against Utah, and one must wonder how much of a quality win that was over the Vols?
All of these teams except Georgia have at least one loss.
So that leaves Kentucky, still undefeated, struggled early on offense but seems to be getting things worked out. The Cats appear to be in a spot that if they can start playing up to their talent level on offense which includes eliminating the crucial mistakes, could make a serious run for the East. Right now it appears the upcoming game with Florida could be crucial as the winner of that game will be in a solid position to challenge the Dawgs for the East.
This could be the year.
