2014 SEC finishes bowl season at 7-5. The breakdown is as follows:

ACC - 2-1

American Athletic - 1-0

Big 10 (or Big 14) - 2-2

Big 12 - 2-1

FBS Independent (Notre Dame) - 0-1

Not the best year by SEC standards and the first time since 2005 that a SEC does not play for the national championship but still a overall winning record versus other FBS conferences and the annual NFL draft will be filled as always with SEC picks leading the way. Thoughts?

That can't be right. Off the top of my head, Rutgers, OSU and Wisconsin won, that's 3 for the Big 10....

The thread is only concern with how SEC teams played out against the other conferences

Interesting breakdown. To listen to some media doomsayers (and new ACC slurping UofL fans) the SEC is terrible now and overrated. The SEC was down from previous years but even in a down year won more bowl games at this point than any other conference in America and was second only to the PAC 12 in bowl win percentage.
For my ACC slurping Louisville lurkers, the ACC had a bowl winning percentage near the bottom of the barrel and only higher than two other conferences....the Big 12 and Mid America conference.

Yeah, I thought that was pretty interesting that the SEC had more bowl wins overall versus the other conferences but taking an absolute beating from the media.

7-5 in bowls while playing "up" in almost every game (meaning the SEC team finished lower in the SEC than the opponent did in their conference). Pretty good for a down year from an overrated league. The losses were highly visible (and the Mississippi teams were overvalued all season) but the SEC is still easily the best conference top to bottom.

The SEC haters have been beyond desperate for a reason to declare that our conference is overrated. For the first time in a decade they have a reason to talk shit, yet 7-5 is still pretty good.

Ah, got it. Sorry. Agree with the premise - as I've said elsewhere, people are so hungry to be able to criticize the SEC, they're cherry picking facts/games.....

Point of fact- no conference has ever won more than 7 bowl games in a single season. In fact, the only conference to ever win 7 was the SEC and it just did it for the 3rd time.

Very good point about playing "up" in almost every game, did any other conference have their 10th through 12th teams (think that's right) go 4-0 in bowl games? Did any other league even have a tenth place team go to a bowl game?
