Ritter is a SS correct?

Yea. That is going to lead to an interesting dynamic. Grace and Schultz both played SS a year ago before Schultz was moved around because of injuries to other guys. Grace seemingly won the job over Golda, who has now transferred out. Add Ritter, a JUCO transfer, and you have a bit of a traffic jam. Also take into account Zeke Lewis returns and was tearing it up at the plate and Elliott is coming back from injury and was the starting 2B.

Chase Estep is likely over at third. However, UK also adds JUCO Jacob Plastiak and freshman Rueben Church who can play that corner. They also add Kavanagh, McCarthy, and Hicks who are freshmen that play the MIF.

Thats a ton of middle infielders as we have talked about in the past.

If Ritter is as good as they say with getting on base and with his speed it could be a nice addition.

I can see a few incoming freshman redshirtting as usual and some not ever playing at UK.

I began to look at some summer stats to show how good the previously mentioned players were doing. Then I went down a rabbit hole with other UK players. So, here is who I have found:

Ritter:

Rhodes:

Clearly destroying that league, hitting .420.

Grace:

Also having a good time hitting .317

Estep:

Cole:

Cook:

Lee:

I am sure there are a lot of others, but this is what I found on a quick look through.

An interesting thing to note... Grace is listed as a 2B for his summer league team.

What I love to see from Ritter is that despite hitting just .269, his OBP is .400, in large part due to 10 walks, and 2 HBPs. He also seems to make his hits count. 5 doubles in 12 hits, and 13 RBIs. What I don't like are the 13 strikeouts. Contrast that with Grace, who has just 3 strikeouts. He is hitting more, but has fewer doubles and RBIs, etc. This could be in part because of where they hit in the lineup. Also, to note, 3 stolen bases for Grace and 0 for Ritter.

Wow excellent research. It will be interesting in Fall ball.

6 errors in 18 games stood out to me.

Having a bunch of guys who have typically been middle infielders is a good problem to have. All of these guys can obviously move extremely well. I’m sure some will be converted to outfielders as long as they swing it well enough.
