Ok, so there's many things about Scott Drew out there....so lets start....

For starters, I want Donovan, Oats, & Hurley as our top guy...but if not they we should not crap on Drew.

#1: He's won a national title.

IDC what you say, he won a NATIONAL TITLE AT BAYLOR.
"DURRRR KEVIN OLLIE WON ONE!" yeah, but Ollie won at UCONN and took over Calhoun's roster. Drew rebuilt a dead program. Go look at the list of coaches who have won a title....since 2000?

Tom Izzo
Coach K (3)
Gary Willliams
Jim Boeheim
Jim Calhoun (2)
Roy Williams (3)
Billy Donovan (2)
Bill Self (2)
John Calipari
Rick Pitino

Kevin Ollie
Jay Wright (2)
Tony Bennett
Scott Drew
Dan Hurley

Outside of Ollie, those coaches are all elite...which again....Ollie took over Calhoun's program and had players who had won a title.

#2 Success at a terrible program...
Think about the state of Texas and basketball there...Baylor wasn't anything before him...not to mention they had the worst scandal ever. IT's a football state. A private school. They aren't Texas, A&M, or even Houston. Here are his finishes...

Final Rankings
2010: #10
2011: Unranked
2012: #8
2013: Unranked
2014: #18
2015: #16
2016: #21
2017: #12
2018: Unranked
2019: Unranked
2020: #4
2021: #1
2022: #4
2023: #11
2024: #14

AT BAYLOR

#3 Tournament Success:

So look at these two coaches from 2010-2022

Scott Drew:
-1 Final Four
-5 Second Weekends in 12 tries
-2 missed tournaments

Coach B:
-3 Final Fours
-4 Second weekends in 12 tries
-1 missed tournament

Coach B is Jay Wright. Only 4 times in that same period did he get past the first weekend, Scott Drew did 5 times. Wright is clearly better, but when you rant about "DURRRRR POST SEASON LOSSES" then compare it to others. He won a title and his tournament results losing first weekend isn't as bad as you think....oh and again Wright was at Nova who won a title before his arrival. Drew is at Baylor. The tournament is random, but having a team good enough to win a title isn't random as consistency matters. He gets a title level team ready most of the time at Baylor.

And are we punishing him for what...those Elite 8 losses? Oh dang...1 Final Four....how dare he not beat Calipari and Kentucky in 2012. Or national Champion Duke in 2010.

#4 Losses in the regular season

I'll bring up again, he's in the Big 12. Yes there are losses....but I think I read over the last like 4 or 5 years that Baylor has the most Quad 1 wins of any program. So he's playing a tough schedule and as of late he's finishing top 10 in those seasons. Again....at Baylor.

I'm not putting him in my top 4-5. But goodness gracious...some of you must not watch basketball if you're up and arms about Scott Drew. Compare those early exits to Jay Wright's....
