Miss st...nothing to lose..came out ripping..ky series wrapped up no pitching...not worried..move on

I disagree. Finishing .500 or above in SEC is a huge deal, especially when it comes to securing national seed. We have been swept (Arky) and lost series to two bad teams (Bama and UT), we needed a sweep to atone for some of that.

Now, we are in a position where 2 or 3 in Nashville only gets us to .500 and we need to sweep to have a winning SEC record. Not good.

Sweeping a team is very hard and doing it without your best (this year) weekend starter is even harder. We did very good to get two of three and that was huge. Still losing 18-8 [sick] does us no favors. If it were a competitive game then it would look much better, but losing like that certainly hurts our image. Still, finish strong and we have the resume to host.

We won the series and thats all that matters
Losing 18-8 no different that 4-2 loss...lose all 4 this week then you can worry

CBK, is it better to be the # 16 seed and host, knowing if you win the regional, you are headed to # 1 Florida for the SR, or be a 2 seed somewhere else and maybe facing the # 6, 7, or 8 national seed in the SR ???

Have to make a super regional first.

Not sure why we are worried about hosting??? Bad pitching staff in homerun friendly park...lets take our show on the road

We are WAY better at home than on the road. We lost to several bad teams on the road (UT, Bama) and got murdered by some good teams (Arkansas, UL). Plus, our park is quirky and I think it's a big advantage for us to play there.

Now, with that said, the idea of having to go to Gainesville for a super SUCKS.

??? where do you see that ?

So, when I click your link it apparently takes me to the may 7 story. When I went to Google I clicked this https://www.google.com/amp/amp.sunherald.com/sports/college/article211087844.html and it does say Chapel Hill.

I don't think that's right. By all accounts it's supposed to be a snake ranking. That would mean that there are 16 ones and that we are the 26th best team in the tournament (disclaimer: I'm terrible at math.)

A&M has to sweep to get to .500. That's not going to happen. Auburn, like us, has to win 2. Auburn has the most likely way to get to .500 with playing LSU at home. Still, the question will be how many SEC teams get to host. Even if we are at. 500 with Auburn, will we get the nod or them or both? Does the fact that we beat them head to head help? Should help us finish higher than them in the league.

Here is an interesting question... LSU is 14-13. Auburn, UK, and Vandy are all 13-14. LSU is barely in the tournament if in at all and aren't even a question to host. Auburn plays LSU this week.

So, do we want LSU to win 2+ against Auburn and stay ahead of us in the SEC or do we want them to only win 1 of 3? The catch 22 is that Auburn winning strengthens their bid to host. If all three of those teams finish .500 then there is a tie breaker, but I don't think we come out on top in the tie breaker in any situation.

Thoughts?

Was at the u6 game and UK hit four balls to the wall in CF ...anywhere else in the park and we had 4 hrs.

Well, we beat AU 2 of 3, didn't play LSU. We have a much higher RPI than LSU, so I say GO Bayou Bengals.

I guess the crux is whether we look better finishing higher or if it's better that we just finish ahead of Auburn. Either way, we gotta take care of business against Vandy.

Agree Comebak. Hopefully Lewis comes back....would love to know how much of a difference he might have made yesterday....though at times, it seems like the Cats were sleepwalking through the game.....

He would have made a ton of difference...I believe we sweep if he pitches healthy.

Possibly, but Miss. State looked pretty locked in on Sunday, and I don't think that it would have taken much of a bad game for them to have jumped on Lewis. Still, likely would have been much closer. Could have even had an effect on the defense.

We will agree to disagree...world of difference between Lewis and the guys who pitched yesterday.

Definitely root for LSU b/c LSU will NOT get a host nod under any circumstances. I think we should be rooting for LSU, and also rooting for South Carolina to take at least 1 from A&M. South Carolina is also not a danger to get a host nod b/c of their struggles early in the year.

I think you are right. Unless we sweep Vandy we won't get the nod in the standings above both LSU and Auburn. So, it's better to just have LSU win 2 or 3. Ideally, Auburn and TAMU finish 8 and 9 and then one of them has to lose first round of SEC tournament. They will then play Florida second round, so it will be hard to get a lot of wins.
