Satterfield recruiting local schools

UK needs to keep its stronghold on Kentucky. But at the same time, I think they may be at the point that they can be very selective in who they offer in state. I think if UK can put together another strong season, their recruiting base will continue to expand to a larger region.

Did I see somewhere that UL hired a well known ky coach as an assistant? Sounds like they're making moves to at least attempt better in state recruiting

Im old enough to remember when ul fans thought recruiting the state of KY was a loser because they could wayyyy better talent in GA and FL.

I wonder what happened?

Nothing.

80 percent of their fans on TOS acknowledge they are disliked in the State, and a few still use the salve that there is lots of talent elsewhere.

But about all admit Satt is landing G5 talent.

Yep... he's going to go to war with Western, and to a lesser extent, Eastern and Murray. He might soon own that market segment.

Congrats.

Shew, I thought you meant he was over on Winchester Rd
Though some Coaches are mentioned in Lexington, here is the Odyssey for Satt as described in the article:

“Satterfield and defensive coordinator Bryan Brown went to visit four different schools in the Louisville area. The two visited Male High School, along with Manual, Ballard, and Central. All four schools have multiple potential targets for the Louisville staff.”

After visiting Central, the Uber driver had class, and they headed back to U of L’s campus.

Their new OC has a good recruiting reputation.

But given the state of UK now, they pretty much have to concede any talent out in the state, but if I was UL fan I would want them at least fighting for the kids in Louisville. There’s a few talented ‘23 kids in Jeff county that we’ll battle over. I expect to win those battles though

Funny how things run in cycles.. I seem to remember during the Charlie Strong days UL mostly got the more talented kids. Marrow has done a good job of changing that. Would be great to not lose KY kids to ND, but can certainly understand how tough overcoming the mystique and faith factor of ND could be.

I can remember when Satterfield first got the job he was asked about his recruiting philosophy and he said something to the effect of.....

My goal is to be able to give the kind of kids I recruited at Appalachian State they opportunity to play Power 5 football.

While I suppose its a noble statement in theory, not something you want to say to make a first impression to a fanbase.

And yet here they are 3-4 years later and he is certainly living his recruiting "mission statement"

The article mentions them recruiting kids in the class 2023 and 2024. A lot of UL fans are going to be disappointed if App Satt is still their coach a year or two from now.

At this point, they are living out the intermediate era of the fiascos that ended their run.

They do not have the money to throw at multi-million dollar buyouts, and one might be needed in basketball, sooner than in football.

Hence, their AD’s hands are tied for the time being.

They don't even have an AD to tie his hands.
