Has anyone else been keeping up with the drama at USC? This was supposed to be the year that they were back, but with all the drama I wouldn't be surprised if things don't end up going south in a hurry. I saw the video of Steve Sarkisian drunk and dropping F-bombs at an alumni event. Now he is supposedly undergoing treatment for pills and booze. Most schools would have, at a minimum, required a leave of absence, but USC is so desperate to return to their glory days and winning ways that they will do anything to make sure it doesn't interfere. I'd hate to have to try to support a coach like that if I were a fan.

There wasn't exactly a lovefest when they announced his hiring. I read their board periodically (always liked them, especially the way they demolished ND) and many fans on their boards were unhappy with the hire. However, this one incident, while embarrassing, is not a firable offense, imo. He screwed up and made an ass of himself and the U but it wasn't criminal. Now, a second offense and I think USC needs to take some type of action.

FWIW, USC should be very good this year. Great QB, finally a full roster (mainly of 4 & 5-star recruits) and a schedule that sets up well for them. Being in the Pac 12 South, probably the 2nd toughest division in CFB this year, will be challenging. Sark's not a great coach and I wouldn't think he'll be able to get them back to Pete Carroll level. But, he's recruiting really well and with the talent he's got, even a moron could win 9-10 games. A mediocre coach could win 11 and be in the playoff. Chris Peterson would have KILLED it at USC but chose Washington instead.

Your're right, they weren't very happy with the hire, and when Peterson left BSU to take the WashSt. job they were really upset, because they were sure they could have had him if they waited a little longer.

FF, if Saban, and I don't think he would, cut loose with the F-bombs at a Bama alumni/booster banquet no one would have said a word against it most would have joined in, and quite a few more places, tOSU is another. Any coach who is winning big year after year will have his indescretions overlooked. When he isn't they aren't, the UL coach is an example of that one too.

I don't think anybody thinks they should have fired him, but it seems pretty likely that he needs rehab or at least some time off. I think most programs would have made him take a leave of absence. USC couldn't have gotten Petersen because he had no desire to go to a big program. He was offered countless and didn't want the pressure of a huge job. My guess is he left Boise State for the only job, or at least one of the few jobs, he would have left Boise for.
