I just saw a good video about Marcus Bowie who is a senior at Sayre. He looks like a real good kid and a pretty good player, no superstar, but he wants to play at UK, maybe Cal will let him walk on:

Bowie’s kid belongs in blue. On a side note - I met Sam Bowie and got his autograph when I was just a 12-year-old kid. My parents had brought me up to Kentucky from Tennessee to see a game. They took me by Wildcat Lodge to see if we would happen to see any players. This was when Bowie was on crutches. He came walking out and I grabbed a church bulletin and a pen and went running up to him asking for an autograph. No joke - his crutches were taller than me! He was really sweet to me even though I was just a middle school girl bugging him for an autograph. I remember he took the time to chat and gave me a great autograph.

Great memory. Thanks for sharing.

Someone asked about his size and I think I read Marcus is 6ft 5

Agreed. would like to see him in Blue if that's where he wants to be. Sam was a terrific young man that just had horrible luck with his shins. Reminds me a lot of AD. And that truly is a compliment.

GO CATS

Man, I am old. Looks just like Sam Bowie when he came to Kentucky which I certainly remember.

Just curious-does anyone recall what ever became of Sam's daughter Samantha(a really good high school player)?

Sam earned the right for his son to walk on and wear the Blue and White!

I remember Sam Bowie's daughter when she was in high school, and they played against my high school. He was in the crowd! I didn't meet him because I saw other people go up to him and I didn't want to bother him. He looked tired/not in the mood to socialize with strangers, but he was still happy to do it anyway.

He is averaging 10 points and 5 rebounds a game this year. Not the best player on his team but it really doesn't hurt anything.

Looks so much like his old man. One thing I’ve always thought about UK basketball is that walk-on players should always be filled by Kentucky boys or legacy players. He would fit right into this.
