As 2500 brave souls watch to see if the Loserville filly can break her maiden the real question will be if Samford brought enough junk to make the Dirty Birds shitz the bed. Really good small school from an academic standpoint. They play in the Southern Conference (SOCON) which is a very good FCS conference (contains Furman (beat UCF last week), Wofford (prolific triple option game), Chattanooga (sending signals they want a FBS deal), Citadel (giant killer in the 90s (arkansas and so Carolina)...SOCON recently lost App St and Ga Southern to FBS Sun Belt).

In past years, I would have given Samford a shot give UL a decent game as they were famed for a FBS sized-OL, punishing ground game and "bear" defense. However, their new coach is Chris Hatcher who, although he had good results with DII Valdosta, he has had mixed results at best at the FCS (1AA) level (Ga Southern and Murray) and was known for having a "soft" team when he was HC at Georgia Southern (released after 3 years).
