3. What about Bama picking up OL, WR and RB in portal to fill in holes last moment on their rosters.....do we really think Bama didn't incentive dudes to come their way or not tampering took place?

Surprised Saban said this the way he did honestly. But I’m not interested in hearing complaints from any coach that was getting top classes before NIL because these same payments from Saban/Dabo/Smart were going on then too.

Georgia and Smart have never been accused by anyone other than Rush Prosp of paying players. A little on Rush, he had 2 families, 2 wives 2 sets of kids at the same time in Alabama, plus having an affair with school secretary. Lost Bama certification and came to Georgia, had to be told by superintendent his starting RB who was indicted for murder couldn't play until issues were cleared up. He attempted to get the superintendent fired and was himself fire. Next county over, hired him and asked booster club for 20k to move some kids in and provide jobs for their family. Was handing out pain pills to players so they could play. He then lost his Georgia certification. Last I heard of him covid was working on him. That character is the only one, other than opposing fans, who have accused UGA of buying players.
One of our assistants started the black coach's association in Georgia, he is very well thought of by every coach in the state. He has the same relationship with Georgia coaches Marrow does with Ohio coaches. Kirby visits every in state school with football. He makes sure every school is invited to the coach's clinic. Just because someone is good at their job doesn't mean they are Cheating.
Ah ya UGA was probably beating out paying schools purely through their relationship building. Probably going to have more buyers for that theory on the UGA board
You have proof turn UGA in. Otherwise just makes you look jealous. Vince recruits Ohio really well, is he buying players or just doing a good job? He isn't the only coach good at his job.
What does that prove? You have a child, start a college fund for him/her and they end up with a scholarship to cover their college education. Would that not buy an escalade with after market rims? Everyone isn't buying players.

What does that have to do with buying recruits? As a parent, right or wrong I am behind my kids 100%. Like I told someone earlier you have proof of UGA wrong doing turn us in, otherwise it just makes you look like a UT fan who thinks everyone is cheating because they are. We don't have big boosters, the biggest is an alcohol distributor.
I just don't believe that, I had a few kids who signed with P5 schools and none ever got anything. No 5*, but one was a high 4* qb who ended starting at a P5 school.
Everybody cheats. Have been for years. You want to see coaches who don't cheat? Look at the list of fired coaches because they constantly lost out on recruits. Yes UK has cheated.... Maybe not the school or the coaches themselves but fans make sure players get some money to sway them. If you don't think every school and especially western div SEC teams do this.... LOL.

Some don't have to, Bama being one, kids want to play, they want to win and they want to make it to the NFL. Missing out on recruits isn't the reason they get fired, not winning enough games, cheating or both as was the case with Pruitt.
If you don't think Bama was paying players for the last 50 years then youre being naive. Sure, some of their athletes come from families that can afford a new car. But when their are 50 new Dodge charges and 10 bmw's and 10 escalades in the players parking lot its a little obvious what is going on.
And you don't know how they get them financed. I bet you haven't seen a single title have you? So you don't have a clue who owns them.
Certainly Bama was buying players years ago, but today I don't think so. Kids want to win, they want to get to the NFL. Going to Bama all but assures you win a NC and get an opportunity to play in the NFL, if you are as talented as you believe.

Let's be grown ups here...EVERY SCHOOL IN THIS COUNTRY CHEATS TO GET GOOD PLAYERS from HS thru college . From personal family experience l know this and I'm not talking on a major college level. You are a smart individual and contribute to this board, but please don't come here saying GA. does not "bend the rules" to get players. They do...just like every school does. Am I against kids getting a little extra stuff, no I'm not, but college athletics are trading in some muddy waters and it looks like it's going to be disastrous if somebody doesn't be a Governor on this issue.
Just look at the Shaedon Sharpe issue. UK and the BBN got played by he and his posse and NO ONE at the University seems to care . But, whose at fault? John Calipari makes 9 million dollars a year and you'll never convince me he didn't know what was going on by condoning it.

All true before NIL. What Saban is saying is that all the things that used to matter doesn’t anymore. Even Bama now has to deal with NIL when recruiting out of Alabama.
Weird that lots of people came forward admitting to getting money offers from Bama. Bama doesn’t lead the country in forfeited games because they were too talented. They cheated in the past. They cheat now. Sabans worried they can’t afford to cheat in the future.
NIL makes for a fair cheating I guess. kids went to Bama to win championships and have the best facilities to prepare for the NFL. Bama could recruit Texas, California, and of course the Southern States because they supplied the NFL with players. Now everyone knows a NFL player can come from any school but Bama was the elite team in the SEC, always on TV always playing for championships.
Now your future means nothing as long as you make a big NIL deal. Then you can transfer and do another deal.

Saban did this publicly to get in his boosters and fan bases ears.
"If you want to continue winning like we have, get the kids I want better NIL deals"...in a nutshell.
Saban is highly proactive. He's not going to wait until he has a 3 loss season before he whines. He's coming off a title game appearance where he likely wins if his top 2 WRs weren't injured. And he sounds like they just lost 5 games.

I think the guy is just ultra competitive. Falling behind A&M once is unacceptable to him. He's had the best talent every year since '12 and he still hasn't won every title. Falling behind changes winning every other title to 1 out of 3, or 4. Unacceptable to him.

A “semi-professional” sport for decades, it has openly “become” what it always was.
Saban needs to STFU, and from his apology, I think he “gets it.”
Too much of this talk could encourage too much honesty about the last 30 years of college football.
