It was good to see Rose show his prowess. I believe he would have had some impressive stats had the injury not have occurred. Our 3rd string back also showed the he can be productive and a change of pace back. Unless there would be a significant injury to our starters, I see no reason to burm Hoback's rs.

Rose is our 3rd string back. King will play a ton th8s year. Kid is very very quick.

Rose s real deal...it took Benny awhile last season to separate if you remember. We will be fine with 3 and Get Hoback an xtra year of recovery and be GREAT AGAIN the following season

The injury to Rose demonstrated why Koback probably does not RS. We have three scholly RBs. The walkons did not impress, IMO. I see Koback playing this year, absent an injury free season. And, if he is a game changer in the fall, he will play because he is on the depth chart. Good problem to have.

Our skill at RB is really good for only playing 3 scholly RBs in the spring game. I was impressed with each of them.

I'm feeling Rose will be #2 but King will be a valuable 3rd down back.

I sort of feel like Lynn Bowden will run the ball a handful of times per game and be a quasi RB ala Randall Cobb.
Hoping to see Bowden utilized in a lot of ways. Natural for the Wildcat.

Hate to see Kobacks rs yr burned to be 4th string rb. But hard to see just 3 backs lasting healthy through 12 + bowl.

Koback will redshirt. We will have a 4 deep of Snell, King, Rose and Bowden. Bowden will probably get some wildcat looks, but will also be an emergency back if needed. He is not a player that you would assign the whole RB work load too but can be adequate for a few touches.

Am I the only person that thinks Bowden will get snaps at rb other than just the ones in the wildcat formation. We have 4 very good running backs and Koback will be redshirted without a doubt! Just my humble opinion. A very UNeducated one at that.

Kings gonna get 2nd most carries. Gran begged him last year to not transfer. He didn't do that to not wanna use him.

Don't know why people don't buy in that King will be the #2 back. As long as he stays healthy he will get #2 carries and make you happy. Rose and Bowden will get spots but Benny and King carry the load. The kid put up big numbers in high school in a big league, he's not some walk on back.

I disagree, I believe Rose will be the no 2 back. It's nice to have the option between him and King however

With Rose getting hurt in the spring game, it won't shock me if they go King early and let Rose earn it on the field like they did Benny last year. It may not make fans happy after the fact if they have great success but the process is set up to ease them in which could be the reason for their later success.

Dont remember that. They held Snell out the first two games but when he finally played he exploded. He didnt start slow. He put over 1k yards as a freshman while still missing two whole games. Thats All American stuff.

Without question Snell is the number 1 guy, no one else is near his level as an every down back. King is not an every down back, he does some things better than Snell but he doesn't have the bulk to get the touches Boom got last season. Boom wasn't little, he was short. 12-15 touches per game would be a good number to shoot for with King I think, If some of those touches are fair catches of punts the number could go higher, but he is pretty small to get many more than that in the SEC, alot like McKenzie was for us last year. He was our best kick returner but we needed him as a slot and punter returner too. So we had to put someone else back there.

This time last year I would have told you redshirting a back with NFL potential meant you only got him for 2 years, then Michel and Chubb both announced together they were both returning for their Sr. season. So if the kid is not going to be 100% by the start of the season and isn't in the top 2, give him a RS and see what happens a couple years down the road, if he leaves it means he has been very succssful for 2 years, if he stays you have some good experience to lead the RB rotation.

I thought that Koback was going to get a look on special teams as a KR/PR. If he doesn't win one of those jobs, I would try to RS him.

King is skilled, but too light at 170 pounds to be our #2 running back. Rose will be #2. King is a 3rd down type of back, if he can pass block. Again, I'm not knocking King's skills at all, but Rose is a high upside player.

Blue I understand the natural tendency to label King as third down back because of his size, but I'm telling you he will not just be used that way, just watch. Rose does have great upside but you're still selling King short and the coaches will use all three much like last year with Benny, King and Rose sharing the load in the first half and Benny getting the bulk in the second. But at the end of the year King will have the second most carries on the team.

Where are you getting this from?

King has shown absolutely nothing to me. He's quick, but not nearly fast enough for a guy his size. Got some garbage yards against UT. He MAY get as many touches as JoJo did this past year but I doubt it.

I'd say the depth chart will go (redshirt Koback):

Start of the season: Snell, Rose or King, Bowden
Middle of the season: Snell, Rose, Bowden, King

If the coaches felt the way you do King would have transferred. King was very unhappy last year Gran begged him to stay. Not to get 50 carries.

from what I recall about King last year (ST returns mostly I think) he'd be a strong RB catching the call and getting into space -- Snell looks like he could have been even better as the feature back -- and that's scary

Sounds like we have a B+ type backfield going into spring
Wish I knew more about Rose and the others

I generally like to check in after the spring game and then ignore all news until a week or two before kickoff

Keeps the clutter down - and I can always catch up later

LIKE WHERE WE ARE THOUGH

Sounds like we may seriously have one of the best OLine units in the conference -- that's HUGE ---- and I'd absolutely expect it to be overlooked nationally........it'll pay dividends on Sat's though ......[smoke]

He begged him to stay once we found out Boom was for sure leaving. He knew we wouldn't survive with 3 RBs, one of which is rehabbing a broken leg.

We could have recruited more. King is number two on the depth chart right now so we will see.

In the Missouri game we were down to just 1 RB and King got no touches at all. That tells me something.

That is why myself and just a couple other guys were pleading to offer Morgan Ellison. We were very thin and if an injury or 2 happened then we are too thin at rb.

Redshirting Koback makes the most sense to me. There's little chance he will be back to 100% in the first few games and will have a lot of work to do in practice once he can go full tilt in order to catch up.

As others have mentioned, Bowden is more than capable of handling 50+ carries this season if needed.

I expect to see a whole lot if Snell with a mix between King and Rose depending on what kind if DEF we are facing and which player is most productive.

With Bowden, I think making it through a season with 3 RB is possible.

Worst case scenario and we lose all 3 RB, start Bowden, use SJ as his backup, and put in Baker when SJ is at RB. HA HA!

I hear that SJ has put on some weight and will probably look less than a RB and more like a QB this year, anyway.

I had to miss the spring game. Did SJ seem much bigger compared to last year? As effective as he was, he didn't look the part, IMO. Another 20 lb would help ease my mind as far as QB injuries go.

Another question, with Baker at full strength, I wonder if SJ will take more chances running the ball instead of sliding to risk injury like we saw at times last season.

One game and Snell did rush for almost 200 yards. Your not gonna take the ball out of Snell hand until Missouri stopped him. They never did.
