RSCI: 9 10 14 14 20 23 43 81

Hard to say.. Is this better than 2013 with 5 top10 guys and another one or two in the 30s (iirc)? I think you can definitely make the argument..

I guess it depends on how much value you put into 1-10.. as opposed to 11-25.. Also, and this isn't part of the argument but.. That 2013 class as a whole left a lot to be desired. I don't think our incoming class will have to do much to surpass them from a talent perspective.

If we get Bamba this class goes to another level,if Diallo returns(probably less likely than getting Bamba) or we get Johnson then this is Cal's best class ever but in a down year overall. If no Diallo or Johnson then we are light on guards and have a potential problem at that position. We return next to nothing in terms of leadership or proven production(Brad Calipari and Jonny David may have the most to offer in terms of leadership)

Uncharted territory (even for Cal) in terms of youth and how much we will depend on unproven players to be how ever good we will be.

I can see this team having the look of FSU last year especially early,(looking devastating at times and disorganized at other times)We are still a work in progress with a chance to be scary good

I'm hoping Gabriel can improve on his leadership. I think he has the ability to do so, but not sure it will show in his Sophomore season.

That RSCI is from the end of last summer. They haven't done a final update for the year yet.

The 247 composite, which will be close to the RSCI, has UK's guys at 9, 10, 11, 14, 17, 23, 28, and 69. Bamba is 2. Big jumps for Vanderbilt (11) and SGA (28).

They went to the championship game their 1st year? Yeah, it took them a while to grasp Cal's system and the college game but once they did they took it to another level. Poythress and WCS were the only relative veterans on that team. Experience wise, next years team will be even younger so hopefully they pick things up quicker than this group.

If we add Bamba the numbers will look very good but they may not tell the real story. This season in particular 11,14 and 17 aren't really much different than say 6,7, and 8,also there seems to be a positive relationship between Green,Diallo Bamba and Knox that already exists if you add in Cal's coaching with the u19 team that will surely have some of these guys on it we are ahead of the game already

They also could have lost to WSU in the first weekend. I loved that team. But I think that class as a whole was a little on the weaker side. Not only did many of them need multiple years, but their NBA potential just isn't there, aside from Randle.

While 2013 might be, from a pure rankings stand-point, our best class.. does anyone really think it's better, on the floor, than 2009, 2011, 2014, 2016?

Exactly. It's why this "greatest class ever" stuff gets silly when it becomes a pure numbers game. The #5 player in the 2007 class was Derrick Rose. The #5 player in the 2013 class was Andrew Harrison. Are those equal recruits because they were both rated 5?

No one UK signed in 13 can, fairly, be called "a flop", except maybe Marcus Lee. But only Randle was really everything you hoped he would be. The class as a whole has a pretty limited amount of guys who look like they're going to be long-term factors in the NBA. Embiid, Wiggins, Parker, Randle, LaVine. That's about it.

And interestingly enough about those last 5 guys, three of them have had some baddd injuries to deal with. I'm not sure Parker or Embiid will last in the NBA. Lavine went out with an ACL this year..
