"We're being negatively recruited against, and the negative media isn't helping"

He went on to say the no shows were 1/1,000th of his athletes. Lol.

This guy is a fraud and a liar.

Of course, ESPN asks him zero hard questions, like why weren't you monitoring your players academics?

ESPN is completely giving them a pass.

Has anyone in the media had the guts to ask Roy what he did to deserve the literally hundreds of thousands of dollars in bonuses that he's received over the years for his teams' academic 'achievements'?

To me the media has been asleep at the wheel on this issue and given Roy a free pass so far.

I feel like ESPN only even runs this because they would be completely destroyed in the credibility department of they didn't at least bring it up.

They're are a million different hard questions they could ask Roy about this skandal and they won't. ESPN is absolutely trying to deminish the findings and corrode the NCAA results.

It's like they don't inderstand strict liability rules. ONE ineligible player, ONE. that's all it takes.

1/1,000th?

How about 90 percent of the 2005 NC team? http://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/education/unc-scandal/article10122626.html
He's just in Joseph Goebbels mode now: Create the Big Lie and tell it over and over and over again. He's despicable.

Great article. Needs to be pasted again and again until the tarholes burn.

Of it it is great, but my favorite part: "Of the 35 bogus class enrollments, nine came during the fall semester of 2004, when eligibility for the spring was determined. Twenty-six were during the spring semester, when the season climaxed with a victory over Illinois in St. Louis.

One of the basketball players, Rashad McCants, had previously told ESPN he took nothing but paper classes in the spring 2005 semester. His transcript showed he was in three independent studies plus one lecture class that had no instruction. He received straight A-minuses, making the dean’s list."

I don't get the 1/1,000th. He hasn't coached 1,000 basketball players.

Roy just reacts like he's got 1,000 kids he's got to watch out for....'dadgum all of you not seeing his pain!

You guys must know McCants was the only one who took those classes and took advantage...UNC has burned all the other player's transcripts and created new law to avoid the archive recovery of them.
Deny, deny, and you get another contract extension.

Does anyone really think that UNC wouldn't alter or destroy records to avoid anyone finding proof of wrongdoing? There are possible issues in play that are larger than NCAA violations if anyone really wanted to look.

I forget who it was, but some supposed UK fan here used to post that ESPN has been fairly covering the UNCheat scandal. Most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

My question is, why doesn't Fox Sports, CBS or any other major outlet pick up on this story?

Heck, CNN LOVES stories on racial issues. This story is a prime example of a major university's sports program denying African American athletes the opportunity of receiving a real education.

Asleep at the wheel? Or maybe taking the back road to avoid the traffic stop/road block!

Outside the Lines did a show about it. Other than that there has been nothing but a flyby reference once or twice on Sportscenter and something roll across the ticker a couple of times. This scandal deserves the entire day-long coverage that Louisville got.

Roy never said that the no shows were 1/1000 of his athletes.
What he said was the problem classes were 1/1000 of courses offered by the university. Funny how people will twist his words to fit their agenda. Here's a link to his interview

Then why were soooooo many UNC Men's basketball players MAJORING in Af. Am. studies?

Those players DEFINITELY had no problem being STEERED toward those classes and in turn getting degrees in that department of UNC.

Ole Roy was an intergal part of the hoax of a degree program set up for Men's Basketball Players, as well as other athletes at UNC. He used the bogus program to draw kids to UNC.

This is the actual "Carolina Way"!!:weary:

That makes it look even worse for Roy. Nine of his players in the '05 class stayed eligible by taking those problem classes.

Oh look, the UNCheat fan ucfan in ky is posting again. Hey, why are your mods so pathetic that they ban anyone who mentions this topic, or makes it known that they are a UK fan? Can you guys not handle grown-up conversation? You guys didn't have a problem accusing us and Cal of everything in the book with no evidence, but when this comes up and there are mounds of evidence, you guys clam up. Pathetic.

I believe there's two topics on the 1st page about the NCAA investigation on THR.... Not really sure what you're talking about.

Whatever. He's a liar and a fraud. Your coach doesn't even know what his players are doing in the classroom.

UNC is going down. You jumped on the wrong bandwagon

You guys lying to each other about some article that gives you idiots hope is not an open discussion, which allows dissenting opinions. Also, LOL at you bragging about TWO threads. If this had happened at UK, the first five pages would be nothing but threads about it.

You're totally right unfan.....It's just a shame that UNC's curriculum couldn't hold more classes....then it could have been 1/10,000. Heck why stop there. Let's go for 1/20,000. The point is, you can't hide the fact that there were COUNTLESS examples of UNC basketball players enrolled in totally fake classes. I think it's cute that UNC fans are still in denial of that little detail.

I'm not bragging about anything. You stated that there are no threads on THR about the NCAA problems & I pointed out that there are 2 threads on the 1st page, one of which was started by a KU fan. So it's not just UNC fans lying to each other.
