With the Cats on a 23-0 record, ranked #1, why am I having withdrawal for football news and discussion? I by virtue of having been born a Kentuckian, am a basketball fan and really enjoy basketball season and following the Cats, BUT, football is and always will be what I enjoy the most! I am so excited about what CMS and staff are doing to bring Kentucky football to where all we football lovers want and hope for. I honestly believe, we surprise lot of "expert prognosticators " next season and win more games than expected. I love feeling this excited about football at Kentucky. Just needed to tell someone. I have been following the Cats in football since about 1960 and I believe we are on the verge of something very good. Once it begins we must do all we can as fans to sustain it. Demand no more mediocrity. Make Kentucky football a destination for coaches and not just a means to get to a different destination. Let's keep the excitement going on here.
Go Big Blue!

The BB we watched growing up in the sixties and seventies is not the BB we see today. It's more of a brawl and the big guys can't even make a lay up. FB is just more exciting and entertaining. And the game experience is more fun. Just see what all the other SEC schools are doing, they could do okay with not even having a BB team. I only watch UK BB, have no interest at all watching other teams play. Not the same with FB, most games I can get interested in.

I just ordered season tickets for football today and ncaa tickets to watch UK in Louisville. Living the best of both worlds right now and it's awesome!!!

Exactly how I've felt for a long time, the only thing that worries me going forward is if Stoops can pull enough talent from outside the state to really make UK relevant in the SEC. While most of your football power schools are able to go after several 5* in state prospects we only had one this year and none next year, know people here like basketball but I know several athletic kids that their parents don't want them to play period.

A good start would be holding on to the very best in state players.

I'm actually feeling a little withdraw myself. I've been a UK football fan for 25 years but I never really kept up with football recruiting until Stoops arrived. He's doing something right.

I agree Ky bball is not what it was when we were younger. Granted Ky teams are better today, but there's just something missing....IMO, it's Cawood. With him and combined with the fact that you'd only see them on tv a handful of times each season, there was more of a mystique about the team. I remember sitting in the dark listening to Cawood because I didn't want any distractions to interfere with the mental picture I had of the game.

Somewhere along the way, I believe around 85-86, bball sort of died for me. Now, I'm nearly a Football only fan. Football is THE sport in college athletics. Between signing day and the Monday of the ncaa championship game, nothing much happens that I'm interested in (unless we're having spring Football practice)

Before I say anything, understand that I'm a Uk football season ticket holder..

I'm having a blast with what the basketball team is doing. I'm a UK fan through and through. Regardless of sport I'm representing. I do hold a special place in my heart for football because I'm able to go to every Homegame. I really hope our basketball team brings home the title though. I know there's a lot of people who believe you're either a football or basketball fan, but to me, that's ridiculous. UK ALL DAY!

+1

But I've experienced such pain over the FB program, especially living in orange land, that I really, really, long to see the day when we are at or near the top of the SEC instead of the punching bag for the big boys. I love when the BB team brings home another national championship trophy, but nothing in sports...absolutely nothing, would excite me more than seeing the FB program compete on a national level...win the SEC and compete for the NC someday.

Last week I stayed glued to my computer to keep up with recruiting. Never been much into recruiting for football as much much as basketball but I get really excited for both now. I really really hate they we don't have a spring game, gonna be a LONG off-season but I'm so excited. Guess I'll have to pay attention now in class and do homework........

I just can't get into watching basketball. When I was growing up about 90% of those crossover dribbles was called palming or carrying the ball and a turnover, and I don't know why they even pretend that dribbling is part of the game any longer, get a rebound under the go, head to the other end with 2, maybe 3 dribbles and dunk. I understand they had to make the game more exciting to watch, but its go so why not just tuck it under your arm and run and not worry about dribbling.

I usually just hope for little football news in the off season because the news you get during that time is more likely to be bad news than good news. Hope your news is good news.

I have nothing to back it up but I feel like our football fanbase is growing rapidly again, and becoming more serious about football as well, and that's not coming at the expense of basketball as I think the basketball fanbase is just as large and serious as ever.

I think Stoops, with the exception of Harris, has for the most part been able to do that. What I was actually referring to was the fact that most of Kentucky lacks a youth football program. Kids aren't playing, learning, and falling in love with the sport at a young age because it's not available to them. Like any sport fundamentals should be taught at a young age not when they are teenagers. Currently football is not offered in the town I live in till a kid is in middle school but guess what, he can start playing basketball at 6 or 7 years old. Flag / pee wee leagues should be available all over our state if we plan on being serious about football, that's how you end up with in state talent and it doesn't hurt as bad when one 5* leaves cause you have other options. We are never gonna get another states top talent to come to UK, the Ohio kids will go to St. and the Florida and Georgia kids will as well. Would have to look again to be sure but I think TN top ranked class had five 5* from inside the state.

I got the green light to give a hint since it started to leak.

Or a Florida Orange, that was a pretty orange he showed, not their yucky orange.

If U are a member of HOB, U will know who it is. It is Tennessee Orange. Pancake = flip. Hope it really does happen.
