I kept thinking someone would mention him, noticed he was a coach for A&M now. He was really fired up trying to urge the players on, his MSU teams played us some tough games. Billy Kennedy never changes expression I have seen him around Murray several times while he was coaching Murray State same every time you bump him to him or at a close game. I went down to A&M for the game two years ago and they played at three, I was outside walking circles around their gym as it was a beautiful day with tempatures in the 70s a lot of the older folks were entering the gym early and they would stop and talk to us, they wanted us to bring him back to Murray.

Personally, I think kennedy is a pretty good coach and now that they have a lot more talent coming next year they will be even better. That didn't surprise me that stansbury was jacked up...he always put everything he had into beating UK just like stallings, andy kennedy, mike anderson, etc. If those coaches put forth have that effort in other conference games and OOC games, then the SEC would be a lot more respected.

Stansbury was a fair coach but he had the same problem that ALL of the other good coaches in the SEC have at some point. Any success he had was temporary. He could not sustain the good times and eventually became nothing more than an assistant coach.

Yes I agree that Billy is a good coach and personally like his demeanor, should have phrased it differently, I believe he will be a solid coach for them, can't remember but he has some kind of physical disability that may limit his anxiety. It is hard for some to grasp, but there is nothing like playing against one of the top tier teams that you just can't replicate against other teams. Those players watched Ky thrash Kansas, UNC, UCLA and UL on national TV, of course they are going to not need much help getting motivated to play their game of the year against UK. But when those folks down at A&M asked me where I was from and I told them Murray, KY they laughed and said take him back with you, and I told them he was pretty successful at MSU.

Stansbury's problem was similar to other coaches who couldn't beat KY very often, it becomes an obsession and it eats at them. I thought he was going to have a heart attack the last time we beat him at Miss State. It was a tough loss.

Stansbury did a good job at MS State. Notice how well they've done since he left. I'm surprised someone has not given him a shot as head coach.
