Rick Barnes and Texas in Hot Water...

So Tennessee fired Donnie Tyndall for NCAA violations at his prior location (Southern Miss)-----Does this now mean that Barnes will get the same treatment? This is starting to look like their AD is inept at performing due diligence.

Tyndall was going to get into a whole lot of hot water with his blatant cheating. This looks like it could be something where Barnes himself does not get into trouble. If they do punish Barnes then they will have to punish Williams at UNC. So, it wouldn't surprise me if they leave both of them alone. Still, UT hires another questionable character, and I laugh my ass off, especially considering they were harping about how he has such a clean record and that their program really needed someone that will be there for them.

This happens almost everywhere. I still remember sitting behind Patrick sparks when he got to take an open book final well the rest of the class did not.

What's the deal with UT's AD? His vetting process needs a major overhaul! This is hilarious!![laughing]

I personally hope nothing happens to Barnes at UT. He's a terrible coach and should be an easy W 90% of the time.

How long have you been a fan of Loserville ? Is it so boring there you have to come here ? Does your mom know your on the computer ? Run along now...

The administration of UNCheat should send UT-Austin a big thank you card and a gift basket with some really expensive wine and cheese in it. Just in time for the cheaters to get off unscathed.
Lack of institutional control is a relative term when discussing chapel hill

One thing I will say for Ole Barnes....He can't even cheat to win, he cheated to lose... sigh...

You seem like you may be full of shit. That's the vibe I get from you. I find it hard to believe that you passed said final.

Yep, I barely did pass and it was at WKU in a computer class. He pulled up his book on screen and used it. Teacher even knew it was going on. He stopped and cracked a few jokes with him.

I guess that we are beyond the notice that athletes do not receive special privileges in and out of the class. Barnes just got mixed up in it cause someone was stupid enough to get caught. Sorry, I forgot what board I was on.

This Texas story is pretty weak when compared to what the Baby Blues were doing for 18 years and thousands of students.

This 18 years of North Carolina cheating is worst of all times in NCAA history. I don't think there is anyone would say different except UNC Fans .

But Texas basketball isn't nearly the money generator as UNC is. For the NCAA it's all about the $$$'s
If it was the football program, well that would be another story.

The Texas story pales in comparison to the culture at UNC, which was referred to as classes that didn't require work or attendance.
At least they attended class in Austin; UNC doesn't even deem that necessary and they're trying to convince the NCAA and Emmert of such an option.

Texas Basketball may not be a big money maker but Texas sports in general is. They essentially run the Big 12 and generate most of its revenue. Even if there were enough to implicate Rick Barns in an academic scandal I'm certain the NCAA would just turn its head away from one of, if not its biggest cash cows.

So the NCAA says its ok to sign up for a class and never go and receive a false grade .....and to boot they have no jurisdiction because it's an " academics issue.

But you can take a real class, with real students showing up for class, and be punished for trying to cheat? The school, former coaches, current coaches and staff pay the price for a few students cheating on tests. YEARS, DECADES of students not going to class at uNc is ok......smdh

Regardless of what the NCAA does, UNC will always be the prime example of complete arrogance and hypocrisy.
