Here was his initial post in a game thread in 2015

“The money for Stadium renovation could have gone toward a new basketball arena. Football will never change.” [Kentucky won that game, a competitive game with ULL].

He has now lived through the change he predicted would never come, when a minor bowl appearance is a disappointment.

Oddly, Joker’s 2 win seasons never led to a burst of posting, but a seven win season has.

He has posted 37 times on the football forum in 16 years; 32 of these since Saturday.

I was a UK basketball fan long before I was a UK football fan. Spent many a cold winter's night huddled around the radio listening to Cawood's call of games with my long deceased Dad. OAD(and I don't blame Calipari and UK for taking advantage of the rule, it's just not my cup of tea), increasingly poor officiating which has made games virtually unwatchable and Calipari's archaic offense tuned me out. Not saying I'm right or wrong, just for me I'm done until things change. Haven't watched a UK basketball game tip to finish in years.

I was raised out of state in a football hotbed so I had a football interest....just not UK. Then in the late 1950s I had a cousin who walked on in football at UK. He didn't last long but long enough to peak my interest and I've been a UK football fan ever since. I've had things in my private life that's changed my attitude. UK football is an escape, and escape I need, but it's not life and death....it's just a game now for me.

I wish great success for both programs. all programs that are UK actually. And I'm thankful for this site that gives me a chance to chat with other UK fans. GBB!!!

That was damn-near my own path.

I played both sports sparingly, but was decent in football.

I have kin in damn near every SEC footprint State: yeah, I heard a lot about college football growing up.

Frankly, Cal’s non-linear interviews and non-linear coaching did me in for roundball. Haven’t watched a basketball game live in three years. I did watch at a client’s house one of those pre-season games in like August.

Will basketball ever get me back? Frankly, I doubt it.

What change are you referring to? We still havent been to anything but a minor bowl. The one this year was just a tad crappier than than the others we made it to. We still aren't competing for an SEC championship much less a national championship. Every bowl we have been to would be like a sweet sixteen or first weekend loss for the basketball team. Comparing UK football to the basketball program is like comparing alabama football to alabama basketball there is no comparison. Basketball 8 championships multiple final fours multiple championship game appearances. Football The peach bowl and what was it in 1950 the cotton bowl. Do I watch every football game yes (went to every home game during the Curry era) Do I want them to be better yes. have they been better than history lately yes. But don't act like they have arrived as a national power cause they have not.

If you were truly a fan as you say you are, you’d know 1950 was the Sugar Bowl season.

I prefer the sport of football to basketball as well. I love watching the playoffs and big-time games through football season. Hardly ever watch any other basketball other than UK. It's not a good product.

My only gripe with football is the post season was dumb but they are finally progressing to modern sport postseason now so kudos.

I think he stated clearly what the change was in his last sentence:

“That a minor bowl game would be a disappointment to fans.”

The change wasn’t win an SEC title, it wasn’t make the final four or win a championship.

When stoops was hired a music city bowl was something fans would be so happy about. Now it’s a disappointment.

Any fan who believes Kentucky will become a champion in football is delusional. Sure we don’t want to settle for mediocrity, but I can’t imagine a scenario where Kentucky is good enough to win a title in the modern era of football.

And my point is we are still happy with minor bowls. Just a wee bit less crappier than the music city bowl but still minor bowls.

Citrus bowl and finishing what, 12th in the country a few years ago? That is higher than the basketball team has finished since Covid post season correct?

How many Kentucky fans do you know that were happy with the music city bowl this year? I know zero.

How many fans do you know that were happy with the music city bowls in 2007-8?
100% of the fans I know where happy then.

So i don’t understand where the disconnect is here.

Didn’t think of them one bit or I woulda been a rich man.

I think the big 12 and sec are two completely different things though. However next week could change my mind on that as well.

Lol, What a useless and lonely life you must live. Calling someone out, counting posts and trying to make someone out as a BB only fan, sounds juvenile at best. I give Cal more criticism than CMS by far.
First of all who really gives a sh!+ how many posts someone has on either board. Does that make someone more credible or correct? He!! No.
**** I would feel confident betting that I have attended more games of either sport than you have ever watched on TV, as if that actually matters.
**** I have the right to my opinion good or bad as it pertains to anything, UK sports included. Do I believe we are where we should be this far in the CMS tenure? Absolutely not, especially with his outrageous salary. But that goes for any coach, pro athlete in any sport, IMO.
**** if you think this year was something to be happy about, take a look again at each game. How many wins were cupcakes. Let’s just load up on Cupcakes and get our yearly Music City Bowl and just settle for that.
**** I complain about both sports and give credit where credit is due both on the forums and at the games. I was adamantly against the lifetime contract for Cal and as I predicted it has led to his laziness and UKBB taking a significant turn for the worse. I believe in holding those responsible accountable whatever position they hold, especially multi millionaires.

You just have no concept between these two sports. The history and culture between Kentucky Football to say, Alabama, Georgia And the like are a pretty big deal! You can’t compare basketball with FOOTBALL! Ever. That’s why we get the worst take of anything I’ve ever heard ( we can’t even compete for the East stuff), (we’ll never win a championship). —— So fing what! There’s only three, four programs who even have a chance to win the national title. I hate it but it’s close to true. —-That may be the craziest thing I’ve ever heard. Actually were not very far from that my young friend!! The money, the amount of people trying to help Certain programs win, it’s not even night or day. Basketball has 10-15 guys on a team where a couple of them can carry you to wins! FOOTBALL has a hundred plus guys who need to play together, push each other and become brothers to win. It’s not even the difference between the Moon and the Sun. I like most on here grew up, and still love Kentucky basketball, born and breed Blue, it just doesn’t even belong in the same sentence as a Football program trying to Change their history and become a good FOOTBALL PROGRAM. NOT CLOSE. Doesn’t matter, I could never explain the difference to a basketball only fan, they just can’t imagine basketball not being enough I suppose. Maybe someone who can articulate it better than I could help you. Hey, I still appreciate your opinion on it though and wasn’t trying to be an ass. I’m just not the best at making a point probably. Unlike Ceephus and RexQuando, you have solid reading comprehension.

We sold the MCB out in 2006 and 2007, each having 40K+ Cat fans in attendance.

We were all disappointed by dropping to that level in 2023.

Our ceiling under Brooks is our floor with Stoops.

I did not predict that Stoops would get us multiple double-digit winning seasons, and I am not predicting he’ll get us more.

But the fact we finished the 2018 regular season ranked 15th (12th after the Citrus Bowl win) shows that we may be close to play off level play in the very near future, with the expansion to 12 teams.

These UK "football" fans...

If you couldn't imagine UK going to 7 straight bowl games (and there were tons that couldn't 15 years ago), if you couldn't imagine us winning 4 straight against the likes of PSU, Iowa, VTech, or NCState when they were ranked ahead of us (and there were tons that couldn't 10 years ago), if you couldn't imagine us ending streaks against UF, UT, and starting streaks of our own against USC, UL, or UF (and there were tons that couldn't 7 years ago), and if you can't imagine we'd ever be in the playoff (and there are tons that can't right now), WHY THE FK would anyone listen to you after ALL THAT YOU'VE BEEN WRONG ABOUT SO FAR?!!

Y'ALL KEEP DOUBTING, because that has been the constant so far the last 8+ years. Tell us it can never happen. Put some money on it never happening. We will ENJOY watching you choke on that like you have on the rest!!

Exactly. And that's what it takes to build up a program that went over 75 years without beating Alabama. 30 years without beating Florida, etc. You keep setting not just a higher bar, but a lower bar below which is unacceptability. Next step is setting 8 wins as the floor and 13 wins as the new ceiling, etc...

Keep ratcheting the bars higher and building stability in the process. Football is NOT basketball, and most of these weak "football" fans will never grasp that fact.

I can see ZERO benefit of being a BB Only or FB Only fan. Makes no sense and actually hurts the program as a whole. Dumb.

The BB only fan was directed at me after a comment I made regarding Stoops being over paid. I do believe both he a Cal are overpaid especially Cal with a lifetime contract. I have had tickets to both FB and BB for years and have been a UK from the time that I started watching as a kid.
Some fans can’t handle criticism against either coach. IMO no coach or professional player deserves that amount of money while people risk life and limb or make life and death decisions daily and get peanuts in comparison. Priorities!! Again that is just my opinion but it especially holds true when our coaches/teams perform below expectations.

I don't thjnk anyone is happy with minor Bowls. We are ready to take the next next. If UK isn't competing for the new 12 team playoff that will be a disappointment

-these people are terrible. There are also a few Ohio football/uk round ball fans.

^nothing tells me "I am not a serious person, all of my thoughts and words should be ignored."... more than someone having dual allegiance on college sports.

I think it’s a self-esteem thing.

They’re like someone in Western KY who, at election time, was going to vote for candidate “A”. The polls close in E Ky showing candidate “A” losing—so they change their vote to Candidate “B” because they want to be associated with a winner.

If I get a whiff of a vibe from someone like that, I want ZERO to do with them.
