Reminder:Mizzou lost to IU last year

We dont have the history of being a winning team like Missouri either.

Another point is that Indiana is a BCS school, ULL isnt.

Our defense got eaten alive by Sun Belt team. think about that for a minute. If you cant see the obvious warning sign then I really worry about what your every day job is.. I hope its not something vital

Well we practically shut down a top 10 NFL Draft RB. And got tore up by the option. The dang point is that just because there's a bad game doesn't mean you dump the whole season. If you can't realize that, you probably don't even have a job.

you think the problem was the Option? seems to me you only watched the 4th quarter because you are completely ignoring how easily they drove down the field against us with plays that were not option plays

I'm not sure what the point is. Winning the SEC East was never a reasonably attainable goal. Is the OP saying that he believes UK still has a chance to do something I didn't think the team had a chance to do this season anyway? Anyone who watched the game against ULL would see that the defense is not deep enough to survive the gauntlet that is the SEC. They would see that the O-line is not where it needs to be to win a conference where games are won and lost at the line of scrimmage. This is a solid team that can take the next step, but this team's flaws are pretty obvious. That said, I expect the team to look better in week 2, but the defense problems are mostly problems that will have to be cured with recruiting.

If it was the Big 10, big 12 , ACC or Pac 12... I'd say yeah we can recover. But this is the SEC and if ULL's speed gave us fits, the SEC is only faster

Oh shut up with that. The SEC isn't made of mutant beings. We may see one QB in SEC play as fast at the QB from ULL that gave us fits with the read options, and that's Dobbs. Could make the argument for Mauk, but he's a one trick pony, and that's been proven time and time again.
Kentucky is still one of the faster teams in the league. It wasn't the speed that gave fits, it was the prep for the read option with a bunch of young linebackers, and a young DT.

I'm not talking winning the East. My only point is that losing 1 game shouldt decide the fate of a season. The first game at that.

And it's fine and dandy that IU is big 10 but they lost to Bowling Green last year. ULL could take down last year's IU with a pretty good game. Mizzou crashed and burned in that game and went on to win the East, so why cant UK not recover and win some good games? They can 100%. Some of you ignore the fact that we were missing 3 key players at the positions we struggled at, and Boom ran the ball 8 times. You really think Boom will see 8 carries in the SEC games? Heck no. I also refuse to believe that Towles got worse. It was a bad game, few under/over thrown passes away from being a cake walk score wise. If we played that game 9 more times they would be blowouts.

And no, I believe option was the real killer. From there they did a fairly good job maintaining the run against an underated RB who will be playing Sundays. A few big QB runs got us but from there those short passes and option were the killer.

there are no more "BCS" schools. and this ULL team would beat Indiana

QB won't matter much, they will run the ball over and over in the SEC and succeed. Plus, that guy in Starkville may not be as fast as ULL's but he is pretty good at running the ball as well. I still think we will win 6 games, but there are gonna be some ugly ones ala UGA and UT and LSU last year as well mixed in.

ive stood by my theory that we get 1-2 wins over USC, Mizzou and florida. im just hoping its 2 instead of 1

Louisiana has a program ten times better than IU. Now that's not saying much but it's true. Our defense was also missing several key pieces. Having said that, the performance was disappointing to say the least. The lack of lateral quickness and the inability to cover the edge effectively is troubling. Hopefully Stoops will make some adjustments but the lack of quickness is remedied by recruiting.

We've played Miss St., we know what Prescott looks like, we knew what he looked like before he lost a heavy, heavy majority of his starters. I'm not concerned.

The lack of quickness was an issue in the 4th quarter, and having veterans back next week, and then everybody back in week 3 will remedy that. The freshmen linebackers were playing out of position at times as well, so that's what McGuire outran them to the edges at times. Being a young player that's played the entire game against a team that runs the ball a ton will do that to you. We're fine.

Dunno how many times it needs to be said, but true freshmen are going to look slow because they are thinking rather than acting on instinct. Plus they are making mistakes like not holding their position and missing assignments. We have the recruits in place, we just need to get them more experience.

If you don't think it was the read option that killed us, I wonder if you even watched the game.

I think more are upset over the collapse rather than only winning by a touchdown. ULL in reality wasn't a bad team but there should still be sense of uneasiness after Saturday.

I don't think I'd just blatantly say that ULL would've killed IU last season.............ULL lost 4 games.....three to non power 5 teams that aren't household name powerhouses lol.....y'all might want to do some homework before making brash statements:

I hope certainly hope you are right. I do agree the injuries and the young players played a huge part. I also think being on the field for 90 plays contributed but the issues were there in the first half too.
