Weird game last week, noticeable that the team played with no energy or emotion until the end, and barely escaped. That said, it was a game that should have their heads screwed on straight, and will provide a lot of coaching material as we wait a week and a half for our game against Auburn. Here are a few stats to know as we go into this game.

For Kentucky:

Red Zone offense:
Kentucky leads the nation in scoring percentage, scoring 100% of the time. Teams often do better when they score in some fashion every single time once they get into the red zone, but that's not really stat for RZ offense that I want to point out.
The important part of this statistic field to me is TD%, and Kentucky is very, very good here.

To this point, Kentucky has scored touchdowns on 75% of their RZ possessions, which is second to Alabama in the SEC (who has scored a touchdown on 76.19% of their RZ possessions). Kentucky's 75% RZ touchdown percentage is also 12th in the nation (7th among P5 teams).

In games that UK has won, Kentucky has a RZ TD% of 85.71%, which is the best in the SEC, and is one of three teams with at least 4 wins that has a RZ TD% of over 85%, meaning that the RZ TD% is very, very good, with a bigger serving size being accounted for in this statistic.

Kentucky's red zone offense is pretty balanced. 7 rushing touchdowns, 5 passing touchdowns. It's important to be a threat in all dimensions in that part of the field. Opens things up for the offense and allows it to continue being good in the red zone.

Red Zone defense vs conference opponents:
Kentucky is tied for 2nd in the SEC in RZ defense against conference foes, allowing touchdowns only 36.36% of the time.
This is an important stat. This is the kind of stat that keeps Indiana in the game for 3 and a half quarters against Ohio State, and it's the kind of stat that allows Florida to blow out Ole Miss, who was averaging 52 PPG through the first 4 games.

For Auburn:

Red Zone offense:
Auburn is 12th in the SEC (106th in the nation) in RZ scoring percentage, scoring 76.47% of the time. They get touchdowns on 58.82% of those red zone attempts, which is tied for 8th in the SEC (74th in the nation).

Red Zone defense vs conference opponents:
Auburn is last in the SEC in red zone defensive TD% vs conference opponents, allowing touchdowns on 83.33% of red zone possessions.

=====

Has to make you feel confident going into a game when your RZ offense scores touchdowns nearly 20% of the time more, and prevents touchdowns in the red zone nearly 50% of the time more than the other team.
Just something I wanted to share with some of you. [cheers]
