Recruit predictions: Rivals analysts think UK's in line for a monster 2018 class

Gotta go with UCLA for Bagley but would welcome a UK announcement.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

We know as much about where they will go as these "experts."

My guess is we sign six guys.

We get Quickley and King this Fall.

Then one of Reddish, Langford, or Barrett in the Spring.

Then one of Bol, Bagley, or Williamson in the Spring.

Then a couple of 4-star multi year players.

I expect we get five or six back from this year's squad. Baker, Wynyard, and Killeya-Jones most likely return, plus probably Gilgeous-Alexander and one or two of our 5-star Freshmen return (Green, Vanderbilt, Washington, and Richards).

I like the looks of our class based on those votes. I'd be curious to see where they RJ Barrett leaning.

Agreed. I'd add the possibility of Gabriel coming back too. Hard to tell what this year has ins tore for him. If he's still too raw and has lapses, guys like JV, PJ and NR will eat up most of his minutes. Pretty good chance Gabriel is back next year IMO.

On the other hand, if he shows out and/or one of these freshman takes a while to acclimate, then one of the above could be back next year.

I don't see Gabriel, JV, PJ, and NR all going to the NBA next year. Someone from that group is coming back.

Check out the predictions on Bagley, Williamson, etc., and it could be a monster haul that would form that super team we've been talking about.

I just really get the feeling that they are missing the boat on Reddish, I could be wrong.

Funny thing is, duke fell flat but nary a word bout how K and his team underachieved. Been more wrote about Cal and the U19 not winning gold.

That's because the media loves them and had plenty of excuses for their debacle.

First, Giles never recovered from injury. If he is 100%, they win it going away according to the talking heads.

Second, they had to play South Carolina in South Carolina. The "transgender restroom" issue is also a side note excuse. Duke plays in North Carolina if not for that.

Third, they were at the same site as UNC and the UNC fans added to the Gamecocks homecourt advantage.

Fourth, K had back surgery, which clearly affected the entire season.

Fifth, the Grayson Allen incidents was a terrible distraction that hurt the team's chemistry.

There was probably another reason or two, but the point is the universe conspired against Duke and their team of destiny. No way you can blame that on the GOAT.

Was this written before or after the crisis known as "cal losing to Canada with the U19 team thus tarnishing his legacy and effectively dampening our future recruiting hauls?" lol I kid I kid

Nice read , but like
The other poster said Duke was supposedly building the college version of the Warriors ...

But I think we get

Reddish
King
Quickly
Bol
Barret

Could change at the drop of a hat though

We get at least one of these guys back, IMHO.

Gabriel might leave regardless, though. He is a year older than your average Soph to be. That may play a part.

I like Green and one of the guys you mentioned back and fill in the blanks with three studs.

G Green
G Quickley
G Reddish/Barrett/Langford
F Bagley/Bol/Williamson
F Gabriel/Washington/Vanderbilt/Richards

Gilgeous-Alexander, Baker, King, Killeya-Jones, and Wynyard on the bench.

TW, baker , Alexander , Richards , SKJ and possibly Gabriel return

Now THAT would be an amazing amazing team. "Super team " esque but I think a bit better / more blanaced than the 15 "super team"

Obviously titles aren't a given but we'd be a heavy heavy favorite; and rightfully so.

Which brings me to another point . It's such a fun time to be a UK fan. Sure we lost last year , due mostly to horrid officiating , some of our best players sitting the bench Bc of "fouls" most
Of the 1st half and monk having a *semi* off game.
Plus ya know , Higgins being the douche cheat that he is .

But last year was super fun, this year is gonna be super fun- a lot of exciting new guys and next year
Is gonna be awesome too.

Honestly what more could we ask for ? ( I know I know "more titles " ) Every year is exciting - even the off season - and 90% of the time we have a legit shot at a FF/ title run.

I think we only get one of Reddish or Barrett. Throw in Langford as well. One goes to Duke, one goes to UK, the other goes elsewhere.

I think Duke is going to get:

G Jones
G Garland
G Barrett/Reddish/Langford
F Bagley/Williamson

Plus another big man if Bolden leaves.

Talent won't be an issue at Duke as long as K is around. Their problem will be experience and depth for the next two or three years.

Do You think they get bagley, Williamson AND another high star big ?

No. I highly doubt Bagley and Williamson go to the same school.

I believe I read somewhere that they won't play together. Both want to be "the man" on their team.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bagley stay out West and play in the PAC-12 and Williamson stay in South Carolina.

Still, it is hard to imagine Duke and UK both missing out on at least one of them.

I guess I should throw in Bol as well. Duke and UK probably both get one of Bagley, Williamson, and Bol.

The roster will work out fine and we will have 10+ 5 star players on the roster with 5-6 multi-year players as well. Cal will figure it out.

My prediction is he won't be back after this year. You said yourself that it's possible many of his minutes will be eaten up this year by incoming freshmen. Well wouldn't the same thing happen next year?

You get two years tops at UK to make it if you have professional aspirations. If you return beyond that you run the risk of not getting enough minutes to prove yourself due to incoming freshmen.

I would absolutely love to have a junior Gabriel and SKJ, but I don't think it will happen.

I think if anything he might look at transferring. There isn't much wiggle room with the amount of forwards on the team next season, and Gabriel has some work to do if he wants to go pro after this season.

Probably right. I think given the current climate at UK the only players that actually make it to their junior/senior years are either A). KY kids........B). Players that missed due to injury........or C). Walk-ons

I think Bagley and Williamson likely stay close to home.

Think our best bet at one of the elite wing trio is Barrett.

If I had to guess, conservatively:

Quickley
Barrett
King
Reid
Bol

Add that to Quade, SGA, Baker, SKJ and Wynyard returning and that's one hell of a squad.

Well some of the 4 so-called "experts" are predicting a big class for our Cats.

McDonald has us with Bagley, Bol, M.Brown, Quickley, & King (monster class)
Evans has us with Williamson, M.Brown, Quickley, & King (very good class)
Bossi has us with Bagley, Williamson, & Quickley (good class)
Peek has us with Williamson, & Quickley (ok class, may need more)

Poetax don't worry about what you read right now. Reddish himself has said Duke doesn't lead. I know he has a long list but I believe coach got close to him in Egypt. Cal loves Reddish and will heavily be involved in his recruitment. Have faith. The next 3 weeks recruitment really picks up.
On another note Louis King 6'8" SF is a very good friend of Cameron Reddish. I believe Cal will offer King who's waiting on a UK offer and I think he will get an offer soon. Could very well help with Reddish. Time will tell. King is the number 16 recruit in the 247 poll!

Are we even recruiting M.Brown anymore?

I haven't heard him mentioned with us lately.

Only thing I have read on him lately was he had a poor showing earlier in the summer.

I watched him in a HS game, I think it was against Nic Richards. He looked about 10% as engaged in the game as Skal during his Freshman year. I think what I've said before is he made Skal look like MKG by comparison. Moses' measurements are off the charts, so if he puts things together he could be a monster. I would rather get Bol in the same position tho.

LSU seems to think they have Naz Reid wrapped up. His GF is a Freshman at LSU this year or something like that. I think it's more likely we get either PJ Washington or Vanderbilt back as a PF than landing an elite PF in the 2018 class. Of course I would be thrilled to be wrong and land Bagley, and really Naz who is an intriguing prospect at his size/athletic ability.

With the hype etc Washington has been getting as of late , and his performances this summer idk if we get him back (although I'd love to )

From what I've gathered lately as the buzz, which we all know can change...

UK can have Moses Brown, Louis King, and of course Quickely right now if they wanted. Quickely is a matter a time, the other two are being slowed played. I'm a big Louis King fan.

I've heard Bagley and Duke and Zion Williamson some with Clemson recently, although there has been a lot of buzz with Kentucky, it's early with him.

I can't see UK not getting RJ Barrett if he re-classifies. Cal is in good with our neighbors up north. Although, I may take Reddish over Barrett in 2018.

I don't know what to think. I love PJ's game, and I think he could be a lottery pick. I could also see a scenario where Knox, Diallo, Vanderbilt, or even Richards play so well his role on the team is marginalized. PJ is undersized for the ideal 4 man in the NBA so he needs to show he can overcome that. I'm just saying it may take him a year or 2 to show his full potential.

I'd take either/or on Reddish/Barrett. Can't go wrong either way.

What are your thoughts on Moses Brown? Maybe I caught him on an off night. Rivals has him #7, I just don't see it.

I've read some of that, but if they're counting on a relationship to bring a kid to campus, I'll take my chances.

If Cal offers, I think he's a Cat. I get why we're slow playing him, but assuming he waits (or gets his offer this evaluation period as Bagley talk clears up) I think he ends up here.

But that's all just me playing internet prognosticator.

A lot of other schools would be taking all of those kids rn. Funny how this class is so great at the top slow playing it is very well worth it

Yeah, absolutely. Good point. Man it would
Be nice to have him for a couple years !
