Alex Rodriguez had a career-high four hits and Troy Squires drove in three runs as Kentucky defeated Western Carolina 7-5 on Wednesday in Cullowhee, N.C.
Squires staked the Wildcats to an early lead with a two-run single in the third inning, and Rodriguez belted a two-run double in the fourth inning to put UK up 4-0.
Western Carolina came back to tie the game at 5-5 in the sixth, but UK's Luke Becker hit a solo home run and Ryan Johnson pushed across another run to give the Cats a two-run lead in the seventh.

Western Carolina (3-28) saw its losing skid extended to 10 games. Corey Sikes (0-4) took the loss for the Catamounts, surrendering four runs on seven hits in three innings of work as the starter.
